- rockNOT BoA and is a scam. phishing for your information to steal your identity. crap.
- MeganThis number is legit. They called me today as well as emailed and text me about fraudulant activity on my debit card. I wasnt sure about this number so I called BOA and sure enough someone had my card number and had made a few purchases. BOA reimbursed those charges. If you get a call from this number ANSWER! Your bank acct could be in jepordy.
- Caller: BOA
- gemThis is legit. I called BofA to tell them I was going on an overseas trip and to please not turn off my credit card (again) because of the odd (for me) charges. They called me with an robocall to advise me of the change to my account and to call them back if I had not actually made such a request.
A very sad comment on the current state of scams that BofA can not easily confirm their identity to users. As evidenced by the confusion to users of 800Notes whether this is a legit number or not.- Caller: Bank Of America

- #NotAScam replies to B in Big D| 17 repliesStop reading posts from 2011. This is definitely a legit number...found it on the back of my BofA debit card. They called to tell me my card info had been compromised because of breach of security at a vendor that I recently made a purchase. They said I can longer use my card and a new one will be in the mail.
How is that a scam?! - BOA NotificationI got a new debit card out of the blue without prompt from BOA. I then got a call from this number a couple days later and I let it go to VM. It was to notify me that my BOA debit card was used at a site(avejuice.com) that was comprimised and they premtively sent a card and that my old card was to be deactivated. Seems legit to me see as they sent me a debit card and just wanted to make sure I got it before they deactivate my old card.

- icallBSI received a call from this number and when I listened to the voice mail it was a call from AT&T stating that I had a $500 rebate due to billing errors. The message stated to phone a number, enter my account information and the rebate would be sent to my bank. Sounds like a bucket of BS. Not only have I never had an account with AT&T but even if I did, I'm not dumb enough to enter my bank information and SSN to a recording based on a random voice mail. I did however phone my bank to confirm that all was normal on my account (just to be sure).
My guess is that anyone on this site stating that this is not a scam, is probably one of the scammers.- Caller: AT&T
- James TruthJust called the real BOA today, they said this is a totally SCAM. Only every call back the number on the back of your card. Easy as that. Not sure if one of these shills here is telling the truth, find out yourself simply just call the number on the back of your VISA or DEBIT card and ask them. They have a record of ALL departments that have contacted you, and all records of all the times you contacted them. Simple. Don't believe anyone here (even me), just call them on a number that you can unequivocally assure is BOA.
The Shills here are either morons that have given away their personal information to a con artist, or are truely evil scumbags promoting their scam.
Always contact your financial institutions directly, don't trust anything that emails or calls YOU! Go to your local branch if it's close enough. Don't be hasty with your personal finances!- Caller: SCAM Bank of America Douchbags
- J replies to #NotAScam| 14 repliesIt is a scam!!! I don't even have a BofA debit card or account. So how can my card have "suspicious" activity on it? I have gotten this call more than once and I have NEVER had a card of any kind through BofA.
SCAM! SCAM! SCAM! SCAM! - RedJohn replies to FRAUD!!!| 1 replyIt's not a scam. It's the fraud alert from BofA. I called them to confirm. Quit trying to make people panic.
- EFlemingLike the poster Karen above, I had the same experience. I called BoA yesterday to let them know that I would be traveling overseas. The recorded message left today by 315-724-4022 simply stated that if I should experience any problems during my travels, I should call BoA's fraud number. No call back or personal info was requested. Seems it IS a legit number that someone else is hijacking from reading the other experiences here.

- Robin BarnhartI just talked to Bank of America after receiving several calls from this number. Since they never left voicemail I did a reverse look up and it showed that it is a BofA number. However, when you call them, they will tell you that they DO NOT make calls from this number. It is to be used by those out of the country and would be routed to the correct location. They will not be asking for information unless you ask them to check your account. Even then, I said I would go to my own bank. The female I spoke to strongly urged me to call my telephone company and have it blocked.
I hope this helps.- Caller: Psuedo Bank of America
- Dan Sutton replies to ryano| 2 repliesI got a call from this number today; I think it was actually legit: it was an automated B of A message telling me, "Thanks for notifying us about your travel plans" -- which I actually did a couple of days ago, to stop them blocking my card due to their 350% too efficient "protection system". I can't prove it's real, but it did synchronize with what I'd done in reality. It then said, "If you've received this message in error, please call..." and gave me a real B of A 1-800 number. So I think it's real.
- Jessica| 1 replyIt is not a scam. I called BoA yesterday to let them know I was traveling out of the country for my honeymoon. They used this number to call me back and thank me for letting them know that I would be out fo the county, and to call them if I had any issues using my card.
- Caller: Bank of America
- Badge714 replies to Jessica800notes is full of "he said/she said", "numbers real/numbers not real" comments. The rule to follow is to NEVER give personal information on a call you did not make, using a number from the phone book, back of credit card, or statement. NEVER call back numbers you got from a voice message, text message, or email. If they say they are "Bank of so & so", tell them you'll call them back. Using your own number.
- SoulReaper17 replies to BobI too have received a call from this number (315-724-4022) concerning the activation of a new debit card, a card I received yesterday and is actually called for according to its expiration date. The number was indeed BofA and the message did not ask for any personal information. I believe that what many are experiencing is most definitely spoofing and as per BofA security policy, "do not give out any of your personal information unless you have initiated the contact. In addition, BofA has confirmed that with your name and the last 4 of your social a scammer can actually clean out your account, so watch out for the scammer posts here and in other forums.

- B in STL replies to J| 9 repliesIts actually not a scam. The number is listed on the back of my BoA debit card. I received a call from the number because my card was compromised when vender that I use my card at all the time was compromised. I called my banker at BoA and they called the number to confirm to verify as well as to why I was receiving the call. I highly doubt BoA would put a "scam" number on the back of my debit card.
- PJI received a call from this number and not trusting any incoming business call I waited for the answering machine to record.
No message was left, so I looked the number up - found this post - and checked the back of my debit card.
BUT!!! Upon calling I was told that the number that came in as this: Bank, of America 315-724-4022 was not actually coming from BOA!!! It is a spoof site using their name and number. The official told me that the number is used only for incoming international calls - that BOA does not use this number to call OUT. So be careful and call BOA yourself.- Caller: Bank, of America (as shown on Caller ID)
- WolfgangI can not confirm that this is a spoof. I did not call back the number they left on my V-Box but called the number on the back of my debit card. There was an issue with my card and the call was for real.
I would advise always to use a trusted number . This gives you then also a cross check if this is a scam or not.
Don't give information out to people who call you, only to people you have called on a trusted number.
Even if they sound trustful and nice, just tell them you call back in a minute and use a number you know its save to use.
Nobody will complain if this is a correct call. If they start to threaten you then you know something is fishy.
