    Why
S/o getting calls when S/o hasn't had a b of a account in almost 15 years. also getting texts. Most of ya'll have accounts so they must be trying to steal any info they can.

The person is partially correct that the caller ID shows the number 315-724-4022 which is on the back of the BOA debit card.  However, the scammers today have the technology to put any name and any telephone number in the caller ID.  They have even put my name and my number in the Caller ID.  One should never believe any telemarketer or anyone pretending to be "Rachel from Cardmember Service", Microsoft Technical support, IRS, HHS Grants, etc.  In fact I have a pile of expired rebate debit cards and I typically hold them on the line for 20 to 30 minutes wasting their time giving them fictitious information and keeping them from defrauding others.

My card was duplicated and used to try and withdraw, money out of two ATM's: one in Hollywood and the other in Van Nuys. Both withdrawal attempts were unsuccessful, but it flagged my bank account and generated a few text messages as well as a automated call from BOA with this number. My card was restricted until I could confirm with the bank the validity of these two suspicious transactions. The best rule of thumb to use is to contact Bank of America directly if in doubt. You can go online to their direct website to get their telephone number.

You will notice that when you are on a verified protected Bank of America's site it will be a green address. This ensures customers they are on a legitimate site.

The following information below does confirm that Vishing exists which instead may show a call from Bank of America when in fact it isn't. And here's what Bank of America suggests you do. Don't give information. Hang up and then call them immediately.

According to Bank of America (under their Q&A tab)
Vishing uses Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) to leave an automated recording on your phone that says your account has experienced unusual activity. The message instructs you to call what appears to be a Bank of America phone number (in fact, the caller ID has been fooled into displaying “Bank of America”). Sometimes criminals also send emails and text messages containing fraudulent phone numbers. Rather than provide any information, you should contact us immediately to verify the validity of the message.

I went to the Bank of America website, called the number shown at their website and talked with Diana. It required about 11 minutes to verify that this call was fraudulent and should be disregarded. (Note the spurious comma in the caller name below.)

Nope...you are the idiot.  The number is a legit number.  the calls are legit.  People should just call their bank and double check, or check on line to make sure purchases are legit as well.  Sorry, but your attitude sucks.  Go stick it in the mud...

Got an email and a call this morning. About a $600 charge on a ATM purchase. The funny is, that account has been closed for over a year. Definitely not BofA.

Received three calls from this number. First call left a voicemail. They indicated fraud on my account. I called B of A to the number on back of my card. They said it was a scam. I blocked them. Your online account is the best way to see (after login)  if you have a problem.

Definitely not a scam, used my debit card at an atm and it was rejected. Within 5 seconds received an email and a phone call from this number. After confirming my last 4 purchases the card was back up. It's happened to me several times over the years aand I've had no problems. Not every freaking call is a scam idiot

Irrespective of whether call is genuine or not, main worry is most of us complaining (including me) dont have BOA card. So thats the concern that, why BOA cant confirm their customers phone numbers properly.

Any customer giving incorrect phone number can be easily validated by BOA by two step authentication by sending a code to number and asking customer to enter it on there website to validate if phone number belongs to that customer. Else its just creating confusion of some customers (or identity thieves) giving incorrect/random phone numbers of others who dont have BOA account
