Just got same message with different phone number in response to Craigslist ad for NYC area:

MY DAUGHTER IS SELLING A COUCH ON CRAIG'S LIST AND THIS GUY SENT AN EMAIL AND RECEIVED THE SAME MESSAGE...ABOUT HOW HE CAN'T CALL AND WANTS TO SURPRISE THAT SPECIAL PERSON IN HIS LIFE, ETC. IT SOUNDED FISHY TO ME SO I GOOGLED HIS NAME AND TURNER CONSTRUCTION AND SAW ALL THE POSTS ABOUT THIS SCAMMER!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH EVERYONE FOR POSTING

I got the same response as the others mentioned above. On my last e-mail I gave him the google link on Rick Smith Turner Construction and said Can you explain this. Haven' heard from him since. I suspected it to be a scam from beginning since he did not want to even see the merchandise except for pictures..

So....I got the same email as well from so called Rick Smith via Craigslist. I googled the name and turner construction etc. and see all this nice info about their scam....thank you everyone for putting this out there.

Thanks all for the warning! This has been very useful as I was just contacted by "Rick Smith" from "Turner Construction" who is trying to buy used furniture sight unseen (!) from a remote location where apparently phones don't work well by sending movers to pick it up. I called his scam after 4 e-mails. Here how the "Rick Smith" Craigslist/PayPal scam goes:

1st e-mail:
I really need this for my family,E-mail me at safareewalker at gmail
dot com with your bottom dollar ASAP

2nd e-mail:

Got the exact same email message here in NJ.  kklovetmark@gmail.com was the email address the person used and (501)438-9373 was the phone number they told me to text them at.

Rick Smith at it again with another number. Same email as all the others. Using the email walkingthon@gmail.com

Rick Smith--same scam as all these others.  Here is the exact same letter others have gotten, sent to me to buy something I listed on Craigslist.

I just got the same message, the name rick smith and the not able to call or talk, only text and pay pal only was a hint..looked his name up and saw all the above.  thank you, really sad we have to watch out for scams like this.

I got exact same message from Rick Smith recently. Unfortunately, I didn't google him until after I gave him my address and phone number. Something didn't seem quite right... He hasn't contacted me via phone yet. He is still using walkingthon@gmail.com for an email address. I will post again if he uses a phone number that isn't already posted on this site.
