Omggggg. Same man tried to scam me. Not sure how, he wanted to pay through PayPal .... After patiently waiting for a response, I googled his name. Shame on him.  I received same message as you did.

I was selling an item on Craiglist and someone texted me regarding it. I was cautious, but they asked me to give my email address so that they could pay via paypal, and to provide an address so that they could send someone to pick up the item. I looked the person up online and found it to be a scammer.
I gave my email ID as well as adress, and fear of being scammed now.

He used the # 1316 512 8744
In the Dallas area.
The whole text is: "My name is Rick Smith. I am buying this as a surprise, I work with Turner Construction, we are currently working at a very rural area which makes it hard for me to make phone calls. I have a mover who will come for the pickup, I will be making this payment via PayPal that is the only payment option. I have some questions for you; Are you the first owner? Where do you live? Does it have anything negative I should know about?"

I reported him to the FTC. Anything else I can do?! Btw thanks for this forum.

Just got a message from Rick Smith from Turner construction. This guy is still using this scam. I THought it sounded suspicious. Glad I checked here first.

I just received the same call today from 801-872-6596 and 801-683-6429  giving me the same story.  Told him I would give him my address when the money was wired into paypal.  Does anyone know what he does - he has my email address.

He must have a script because word for word the same story.  Is there anything I need to worry about.

Yes, I also received a TEXT only . . . but the phone number was from 323-438-7535.  Same message that several are getting. "Remote area, this is a surprise, I am Rick Smith and I work for Turner Construction, will have movers come pick up, pay by paypal only", etc, etc.

Got the SAME crap from RICK SMITH @ TURNER CONSTRUCTION.
He said the buy was a surprise, and he wanted my pay pal info so he could send me the money, THEN he would send a moving company to pick up the table, with 4 stools and separate base for the top.
He also said he was in a place where calls could NOT BE MADE. Is he on this planet ? Calls can be made almost anywhere
This was done via an ad on CRAIGS LIST and people beware of Mr. Smith from Turner Construction.!!!!!
The MAIN number used with this contact was 407-655-4532, then he said to reply to 407-307-2251

He never replied after that.

I took my phone number off Craigslist so people have to message me instead now. This makes it so I can flag scammers since you can't flag these phone numbers as easily.
