    This sounds like a one-ring phone scam. It's explained here: http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/blog/one-ring-cel ... ing-your-wallet

When you call back, it goes through to an offshore number that charges your cell phone for the call. If you pay your bill without questioning the charge, the scammers get the money.

One ring to my cell phone and then they hung up.  Wouldn't have answered it anyway since I didn't recognize the area code; that's what voicemail is for :) .

I just got a call from this number; it hung up instead of responding when I answered.  I'm suspecting this could be a ploy to log numbers that have a likelihood of being answered.

Husband and I have both received calls from this number on our cell phones.  We do not answer calls from numbers we do not recognize.  They left no message.

Received a call for this number on 3/21/2014. No on on the other end when I answered. PLEASE find the people (or machines) who make these calls and lock them up. I have had way too many from this number and other bogus numbers already this year!

Do Not Call lists usually have a method of reporting violators. Use it, or the list is meaningless. Indiana has a method of doing this through the State Attorney General's Office.
As far as "selling" lists is concerned, the legitimate telemarketers buy the list of numbers that are to be excluded from calls ~ the actual Do Not Call list. Not any list of those to include. The key word there is "legitimate" and if they don't buy them, and call people in that state anyway, they are obviously oblivious to the fact that such requirements apply to everyone, including them. Computerized Sequential Autodialers do the dialing for them, which completely leaves out the human factor in choosing numbers. They don't have a clue who they are calling until someone answers the phone. Only then are you connected with anyone. If you get a hang up when you answer your phone, that means somebody else answered their line first before you got to yours. Those things dial bunches of numbers at the same time, but only the first poor schnook who answers is the "lucky winner" or whatever. Most of the numbers you see on your caller ID are "spoofed" too, so trying to call them back is fruitless. This also makes prosecution harder, but if they get enough info from enough people, the Prosecutors can get them anyway. Offshore companies also make it harder, but reporting them anyway is always the way to go, since there's no way for you or I to be able to tell who is offshore, or who is spoofing their number.
They are violating the law, and the only way to shut them down is to fine the daylights out of them. The problem comes when nobody gets enough information about them to make a substantial report. This time of year nobody needs to be told where Orlando is IF they really want to go there. So, it must be some time share/condo or whatever looking to scam you into wasting your time and money listening to some overhyped sales pitch full of lies.

Got call from this number at 4:09 PM. No name on caller ID, so I don't answer it. According to other reports on here though, I didn't miss a thing except aggravation. Being on disability leaves me little beyond basic food and shelter ~ I have no money for trips to Florida, unless it's absolutely free both ways, and staying there. Nobody does that, so, there you are. Besides, I'm not interested in going to Florida for anything.
