Just got a call "again" from this number.  A man with an "middle eastern" accent calling from the technical department at Windows.  I told him I had a MAC and to remove my number from his records.

-Received call from 333-260-2212 (shows up as unavailable), answered it, guy started name was Jay Smith from 1Stop eMarket in NY (there is no such business, did various searches in Google), he has a thick Indian accent, speaks very quickly, wanted to warn of Windows error messages & Internet activity possibly allowing viruses to come on computer. Jay said if I'm in front of computer, he can walk me through how to get rid of any viruses as a free consult. I said I have no need of services, please put number on the do not call list, he hung up.
-This was not the 1st call I received, calls about every couple months or so, sometimes 1x/month, same voice, same thick Indian accent speaking very quickly, company & name stated is bit different sometimes.
-Thanks to those who posted about this number, finally I decided to try looking up this number & found all these postings, decided to add mine. Agreed, it's a scam for sure, don't give any info to this guy.

Got a call from the same number, same lame conversation. Hung up on him. The shame is that after all these calls the guy is still going strong. What needs to be done to shut this guy down?

I just received a call from this number, and my answering machine picked up. The caller stayed on the line, in silence, and finally did not leave a message. I am on the Do Not Call list.

I received the same call just moments ago. I played along for a bit and he asked me to turn on my lap top and give him my information, I told him my boyfriend took the lap top to school and asked how can he know I have a virus when he never even asked who he was talking to. I called him out on his scam and he got VERY upset with me. What scares me is that my elderly grandmother lives in my home and if she answers one of these calls I don’t want her falling for their trap. I’m looking into actions I can take towards them. Good luck everyone!

Just received a call saying he wanted to check on my computer. I told him I I'd not have a computer and hung up. He had a heavy Indian accent. AaA friend got a call like this about a month ago and because his computer was running slow he let him talk him through. They emptied his checking account. Luckily it was not much and his bank refunded him when he reported it to a bank. Unfortunately many of the tech department do have tech who call from India.

I received a call from this number. A male asked for me by my first name, identified himself as Ethan Potter, said he was calling from One Stop E Market's technical dept and was calling to tell me that I had a computer infection named RUNDLL32.exe. He wanted me to turn on my computer and follow his instructions to get rid of the virus. In order to get as much information as possible from him, I pretended to turn on the computer and follow the first couple of steps. He asked me to press CTRL, the Windows key and R at the same time. When it was clear I was not following his instructions he accused me of "not trusting him" I asked for a number to call him back and he gave me: 888 514 1650 which also seems to be a number associated with a similar scam.

Same as other calls- claimed to be with Microsoft, wanted me to open run line to input code.  I played along long enough to get his "name" - he said "Michael Anderson" but, as with other reports, caller had a thick Indian accent - and his "company "1 ERK".  After I hung up on him, he called back and asked' why I'd ended the call!

    Supremely Irritated
Got THREE calls from this number this afternoon. Of course did not pick up, but this many calls in as many hours is an all time record. The number is now blocked.

You have caller ID? Use it! Don't pick up for unknown numbers.

If you get a call from these [***] and make the mistake of answering I suggest you mess with them. Speak in an unintelligible accent. Make up a language. Just make sure every sixth word is yes. Make believe you're on your computer doing what they say. Keep them on the phone as long as possible. Tell them to hang on a second and go eat lunch. Take the phone into the bathroom and make sure they can hear what you're doing or make fake vomiting noises. Anything to mess with them. Anything.

BTW, seems like most people who have posted here are not very computer literate. Rundll.exe is a legitimate Windows file in older versions of Windows but hasn't been used since Windows 2000.

Microsoft will never call you. NOBODY will ever call you to say you've got a computer virus. Think about it. And get a good antivirus program or you shouldn't ever be online to begin with. If you don't understand what a program or file is then Google it.

I'm sitting at my office.  Our fax line lights up with this number.  Less than 2 minutes later, my CELL PHONE rings...SAME NUMBER.  Weird!!

He first asked to speak to "the owner of this number" (didn't even try to use my name), then he tries telling me that someone is downloading illegal and potentially harmful files from my computer as we're talking.  I just laughed & said "Dude!  I'm the only one here, I'm not downloading anything & if I run into a problem, that's what the Corporate office pays Tech Support for!" Hung up on him.  *smh*

Just received a second scammer call from 333-260-2212 and not too long ago I received another call that I reported here from 718-205-0445.  I didn't pick up the phone on either calls.  If the number is unidentified I refuse to answer.  Just wish these guys would go away!

Got a call from 'Ian' with an indian accent saying he was from technical support and my computer was being 'corrupted'. I told him I had 5 computers, which one? he said windows. I asked if he was familiar with Norton, and he said yes, but that's just an anti-virus (not true) that these were 'junk files' that kept growing. I kept asking him for a technical explanation of why these files would harm my computer and he kept trying to get me to sit in front of my computer to follow his instructions. I finally asked to be removed from his calling list (I had several calls from that number recently) which he said he'd do.

This scam could be dangerous for a non-technical person, as he could instruct them to download some kind of malware. Calling back the number says 'your call can't be completed as dialed'.

Not sure how to locate this outfit

This call is a major scam they will tell you something is wrong with your computer. They will tell you your microsoft has expired and your computer has a virus. Don't fall for this. They want $100 to "fix" your computer they will tell you to push certain buttons and this allows them access to all of your records you have. If they call you tell them you dont have a computer and they will hang up.
