They are in either Pakistan or India.  The US government can't arrest them and the Indian local police will do nothing, from what I've heard and read.  American police can't do much either.  But you should still make the report.    They are targeting recent immigrants from Asia who might not be familiar with the American justice system.  No one is going to arrest anyone for errors on tax returns.  IRS disputes are civil matters.  Beware of anyone calling you from an unfamiliar number who has a Hindi-type accent.  Most likely a scam.  Nothing against Hindi people.

Yes they can.  Indian scammers do it all the time.

They use spoofing technology.  They can use a phony number to make it look like the call is coming from somewhere else.  They are almost always Indian or Pakistani.  They have a strong Indian accent.  Sometimes they try to hide their accent but it doesn't work.

Caller left a message in my massage box.He told that I should contact with him immediately because he got a legal case regarding name and identification. If I dont call him back, there will be legal action against me and I would be arrested.

No no .... They r 101 % frm Some where USA but Indian or Pakistani accent. If they weren't frm USA how they knw us frm the particular state by looking at our area code in the phone number. On the other hand they knew everything abt US law n policy. Any people frm overseas can't knw everything abt US law.

I got the same call from investigation and they will arrest me if I don't pay. Its a scam when I called back they put me on hold for long.

Called me twice and said that his name is Ron Davis and he is calling from NYS Investigating Department , If I didn't take action he will take legal action against me I think these guys are scammers because for no reason someone from NYS Investigating Department call you from there private number

I keep getting calls from them and whenever I pick up, they say absolutely nothing. Weird since everyone else here is getting threatened and scammed.

Same as others saying state department of investigation. I knew by the accent that it was fake and asked for ID and last Name first name. he started using abusive language and I reciprocated

Just got this call. Glad to find this website. Looks like they are just using a VOIP phone and calling from India/Pakistan. Just Ignore, No State agency would call you and say you will be arrested.

I got a call from the same number (347-377-7091) this morning saying it was Gary Wilson from State Department doing investigation. I am already on the Do not call list. why are these people harassing us. Can we report these anywhere?

I got a call from same number today, I told them I was not interested in their scam and they should try somewhere else, it pissed him off . I hung up.
.he called me more than 15 times I kept cutting the line, finally I held the line he hear him frustrated and barking abusive Hindi foul language, I cut the line and then he stopped calling as if he was finally relieved. These guys should be in jail for life.

We got the same message that said to go put some money that you own for the tax money. If you get this call don't pick up. We have notify this number to the police.
