Just out of curiosity, do they know who is running this scam?  Is it a debt collector?

This is a criminal extortion scam operating out of India. They are making the calls utilizing VOIP and the names of legitimate firms to make it appear the calls are originating from within the US. There is NO "company" or "debt" and you will NOT be arrested. They are harvesting and/or buying consumers' personal identifying information and you need to do whatever you can to protect yourself. This includes: Notifying the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/, placing fraud alerts with all three credit bureaus, notifying your bank and employer and letting these criminals know you are aware they are attempting to extort money for a non-existent debt and have alerted the authorities.

Just received the exact letter through email. I think this is absurd. This is total BS they need to leave us hard working people alone.

I got the same email. Is this legit or is it a scam? I called the number n some guy answered w a forgein accent. Told me to hire a lawyer as I would be served with a warrent and arrested.

I got the same email word for word. hmmm funny how so many people committed the same crime. Scam!

Going to be pretty hard to get damages in any law action.  These people are hard-core scammer/extortionists located in Inda.  They are beyond the reach of US law.

Ok, this is absurd.  I have received the same emails as previously posted, word for word.  I ignored them.  Today, I received an email from-wait for it- the internet crime complaint center from an officer Don Lawson, badge #069, in regards to the previous emails from the FBI that I ignored. Listed 4 separate charges, bank fraud, check fraud, internet fraud and something else that I don't remember.  Yet, the contact name and number are the same.  "Attorney Steven Johnson" at 360-474-4772. Why are these scumbags allowed to continue to harass hardworking honest people?  I am so sick of this bs.  What can be done? Reporting them doesn't seem to work.

Got the same email, word for word.  Wonder how the internet crime complaint center feels about this?  I started to send it to them but decided to just block it from my email instead.  Probably nothing they can do anyway or they would have by now.

I received a call today, my heart is still pounding.  Despite the fact that I know i have done nothing wrong it still freaked me out.  I am calling the I.R.S right now to report this.
