I just received a phone call from 360-719-4584. A man claiming to be from Dynamic Recovery Solutions  had my full ssn. I Paid off the debt they were calling about, which was no where near the amount they are trying to collect. This time they were trying hard to be nice and acting as if they were doing me some kind of favor.. I've been dealing with these scammers for years now, they keep passing my info along and saying the debt was bought by the next guy and then they call from random local numbers and claimed to be located only in another state. How convenient for them, to be located where no one can seem to meet in person,  they say they will send me proof of this debt I owe. I've hear this before and still no legit proof has come to me. They want me to give them the proof I paid it off, I'm not giving them any more info. They can see it in court, when I see proof they are legit.

Tell them you will pay the debt when they furnish written proof you legitimately owe it.

Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." This notice must include:
    The amount of the debt
The name of the creditor you owe
A description of certain rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, consider requesting this information in writing or seeking assistance before paying the debt to make sure the debt, and the company, are valid.

Tip: You can consider sending the collector a letter requesting the information by using one of the CFPB's sample letters. You can also submit a complaint to the CFPB or you can contact your state Attorney General’s office.

Tip: If you're having trouble with debt collection, you can submit a complaint with the CFPB online or by calling (855) 411-CFPB (2372).

This is a common ploy by criminals attempting to extort money from people by scaring you into believing that you will be criminally charged, go to jail, lose your driver’s license, have wages garnished, etc. all for an alleged or nonexistent debt.
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
Read up on your rights here, get template letters to send and also make a complaint at this government site:  http://www.consumerfinance.gov/
Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

    a worried caller
claim to be a debt collector for SALLY MAE/ NAVIENT. we know they are not. we know this because the debt they say we owe, we're paying Navient directly. also, they're using an absolutely absurd loan amount of $26,000 when the loan was for less than 10k. and again that loan is currently being paid on, to Navient. when we told him we were going to call the FBI and report this number the caller scoffed and said "really, you're going to call the FBI?" with an indignant tone in his voice as if they were trying to call our bluff.
    • Caller: would not give us that information
    • Call type: Debt collector
