I was called on Monday, May 18 at 4:40 pm. She began her spiel, How are you....I interupted caller to ask what company is calling and she said, "VMS Alarms". She again began her babble and I asked where did you get this number? and she stated, "from telephone directory". I interrupted again to say I am on the "do not call list" and do not want to be called again. She hung up. ME

A call came from this number, a voice of a woman with accent responded and hanged up.  I called back and it went straight to an answering machine that was full.

Have gotten a couple calls from VMS Alarms.   Have even gone to their web site and noticed that they claim to be members of the NBFAA (National Burglar and Fire Alarm Association).

I went to the NBFAA site (alarm.org) and did not find them listed as a member.  I then called the NBFAA directly (888 447-1689)and talked to a person who told me that VMSAlarms was no longer a member, and that the NBFAA would send them a 'Cease and Desist' letter to have them remove any claim of association with NBFAA.

If you are called by VMSAlarms, call the NBFAA and if they get enough calls they may eventually get upset enough with VMS Alarms to take legal action.

No Sir! You do not know the meaning of the word "sucks".  What "sucks" is that these people writing in are ALL on the "do not call list" and are aware that there are too many companies that DO outsource to save money.  It also "sucks" that these scumbag companies that are calling when we do not want them to ARE usually trying to scam us for our hard earned American dollar! It "sucks" that this "company" does not follow the rules, has everyone suspicious of being taken, and has some fool standing up for them as if they are on the up and up.  (What is your new job, collections?)

I agree that it is disgusting!  It is disgusting that we have to constantly watch our backs so that we are not taken by scumbags who refuse to follow the laws and the rules!

KNOW THIS, ANYONE WHO SOLICITS ON MY PHONE, OUTSOURCED OR NOT,
           IS     MY    ENEMY!!!!

I have received several calls from the number 401-427-0929 out of Providence, RI.  We do not answer calls we do not recognize or what looks like a company we have never heard of.  This one shows as "Vonage Holdings".  Doing a reverse search on this number was useless.
However after a couple of minutes of net surfing I fould that numerous people are having issues with this.  Not in the way all of you are reporting though.  It seems that a lot of people that have swapped from one phone company to Vonage are showing up as "Vonage Holdings" instead of their name.  Yes, it could be a friend of yours calling. See this website: http://www.vonage-forum.com/ftopic10664.html
It also could be a solicitor as well.  One of the people on this thread stated that it is a reputable company.  Amazing, because reputable companies do not have idiots calling and swearing at you when you tell them you are not interested or are on the DO NOT CALL REGISTRY.

Let's set the record straight here: Vonage Holdings is a reputable company.  http://www.vonage.com/corporate/   It is not a "keep families safe" company.  It is a TELECOMMUNICATIONS CORPORATION.  Example: AT&T, Verizon, Bell South, etc...  So to those of you singing the praising of some backdoor company - clue in here - STOP CALLING ONCE YOU ARE TOLD TO!

I received the "winner" of the GE System yesterday also from the same 401 area code number.  I am also on the do not call list and last week some guy had called about smoke alarms.  Yesterday someone named  Alan called and said a technician is to come over Friday to explain it all to me.  However, today I received an alert from the Credit Bureau that my credit was checked by a company called TCI Consulting in R.I.  I traced this to Versatile Marketing Solutions at 316 Pocasset Ave, Suite 205 in Providence, R.I.  Don't like how this company is doing business with all these irritating phone calls to everyone so will definitely refuse to do any business with this company.  Am really teed off with them going into my credit records because credit checks lower your score at the Credit Bureaus. When someone shows up Friday they will NOT get any business from me.  Guess all of us were supposed "winners" even though we didn't enter a contest.

Good bye , Joel.  I don't like telemarkets with slick pitches who act dumb,  and make us sREPEAT OURSELVES.  I'm calling 1-866-493-1253 ex 200 right now to "cancel" their "visit".    The world has gone "cheap". Very cheap.  Joel,  get a life

I received a similar message regarding a GE System from the 401 area code.  It was regarding a security system.  And like you they were supposed to come over this Friday to explain it to me.  I found out this evening that TCI had done a credit check on me.  I just don't understand how they got my SS# to do the credit check.  I am also teed off.  I will definitely not be doing business with this company.

    Kira
My name is Kira, I worked for VMS for about three months up until last week. First and foremost, I want to apologize for the way that the majority of the representatives conduct themselves. VMS hires ANYBODY, and most of the people that work there (including myself, while I did) are young kids fresh out of high school or in college. So they're immature and don't know what's appropriate for a cold call and what's inappropriate.
I've continuously seen complaints on this thread about thick accents. The surveys that someone in the household participated in are generated in India, that's why you can't understand them haha. I also noticed that a couple of people said they didn't partake in any survey. You may not remember the survey because it was very short, or someone else may have taken part in the survey. But the fact of the matter is, someone did. If you're receiving the call from Rhode Island, we are calling you while looking AT YOUR SURVEY. There is no way we would have your name and number without it.
Now, when you tell a representative that you aren't interested in the "promotion" (it's not REALLY a promotion), they're supposed to put a check mark on your survey and throw it away. However, a LOT of new people forget to check it off, and that's why you get called repeatedly. Also, if you just don't ever answer the phone, or if you pick up and hang up, you will keep getting called. Just answer the phone the first time around and say you aren't interested.
Now, here's how the "promotion" works.
They offer you a $1200 GE System, which IS entirely wireless. However, the system does not actually cost $1200. It's the Simon 3 system, which is a $200 system. $1200 is what Monitronics pays VMS per installation (most reps don't know this, so don't drill them for it. I had to do individual research).
The installation and activation fee is also free, there is a lifetime warranty on all parts (not labor), and the system is yours. They will move it ANYWHERE in the United States for FREE, but out script (yes, we read it word for word) fails to mention that that's only during your contract.
For all of this, you pay a $36.99 monthly charge for monitoring. Now, they can't give you the monitoring for free because it's not VMS' service, it's Monitronics'. But the price can be haggled down to $19.99 per month, but it's difficult!

I'm not recommending the company, by any means. I'm just trying to get you guys all the facts about VMS and the "promotion"
