Not being able to do without an answering device changes the complexion entirely. If you risk missing important calls, and emergencies, what I did won't be an option, nor is disconnecting the line (landline) for night time hours. Therefore, a larger call blocker may be the best bet as many of these wiser posters suggest. If you're near your phone whenever unknown calls come in, cutting the call off before it reaches voicemail might help. That's doubtful it can be done unless you're always able to get there in time. I have heard of instances where the number of junk calls has decreased even if an automatic answer is there, but not often. It's very frustrating but I wish you luck.

Maybe change up the way you block numbers (review your blockers owners manual...think outside the box) and be more aggressive with your blocking (think area codes or ranges of numbers). Look at where your gotta have contacts are (area code wise) and look at where your scammers are calling from (again area code wise), and let that be your guide. It may need some adjusting, but it will be better than what you got now. I wish you good luck.

I should have initially stated that I have to keep voice mail on 24/7.
 I thought of getting a bigger call blocking device. But it's very rare that the same number keeps calling me back. A lot of these calls just show a local or nationwide city/town, state and phone number  in Caller ID. I'd say 50% are trying to get me to change from National Grid Electric to their company. To save .01 off the rate per kwh. Really?
 Life is to short for all this time lost on annoying phone call bs.

 Thank you for your response. I'm using a Panasonic cordless phone system now. Only allows 250 numbers to be blocked.
  Blocking area codes is an awesome idea. Still can't block any within my State of Massachusetts nor the
New England area. But the rest of the country... OH YEAH!!!
 I'll research my options online for a device that blocks by area code. Even if I can block 5 to 10 calls a day it will be worth every penny I have to spend on it.

You are welcome....Here's another thought, I believe with that phone, you can block with as few as 2 numbers (check the owners manual). What that means is if you block say 20, that will block ALL area codes that start with 20. (201, 202, 203, and so on). So give that some thought as well. One block could take care of 10 sets of area code numbers. And if you can't do that, you'll still be better off than you were.

We got a call from this number today at 1:11 pm and didn't answer. No voicemail message was left. The caller ID was OMAHA NE. When I called back (our number is hidden by default on outgoing calls), I heard a recording which said "Hello. None of our representatives are available right now. If you received a call from this number we should contact you within the next day. If you believe you received this call by error please press one to be added to our do not call list." Thanks to all who posted information about this number. It will be added to our call blocker.

Scam call from patrolmans? Same old scam just a new name. Just don't say hello when you answer the phone.

Caller ID says PATROLMENS.  They did not leave a message.

these scammers ought to get a real job

It was a computer caller - responses were based on my answers and the recording got jumbled when I notified them that they had called a work line.  I said the word "work" again and they disconnected the line.

ID said Omaha. Decided to have some fun and went into Peyton Manning "OMAHA! OMAHA! OMAHA!" Person at other end kept saying "wha.." . Number now blocked.

Scammer wtith voip said it was for police and families charity. Iquestioned the fake voice.  Get this. He said he had trouble talking and was typing answers. Maybe but won't take no for answer. Hung up. Most are scams ...

SCAM. Caller ID said Patrolmens. ..Man asking for money for patrolmen. I told him I support my local officers.

Called my cell. I use it only for family  and friends. Everyone  else is automatically  blocked. I've  only given my # to my Doctor and my cable provider, so how do these  creepy  crawlers get my #?

Not sure what this rude person is selling but it is a scammer for sure.

6 pages of complaints on this number in just over 1 month. Can't believe it took them over a month with their new number to find me! You can always tell when they start using a new number by the date of the first complaint. As usual, I don't answer and never will!

This number also called my landline today. It will just ring since I have not set up voice mail (use cell only as primary). It is sad when as LeeinDe stated, there are six pages of complaints since Sept. Now it is blocked.
