Just received a call from this number stating I was going to receive a new medicare care and wanted to verify my address and zip code and then wanted the name of my bank.  I told him I would not give him any further information as Social Security already had all the info me that was necessary AND he hung up!

I got a phone call from the number 409-291-5191, unknown caller, this morning. This man had a very pronounced Asian accent and wanted to verify information for a new medicare card. I agreed with the information he quoted and then he wanted the name of the bank. I gave him the name of the bank and then he wanted the number at the bottom on the checks. I told him he didn't need to know that number that Medicare already had that information to go ahead and send the cards. He then said just to verify the information he would read to me. I told him no he didn't need to do that because I knew this was a scam and he wasn't getting anymore verification from me. I feel like he was targeting seniors thinking they would supply all the information that wasn't "verifiable". I called the number later and got a recording saying it was a number for sales representatives. Not true! It's a number for thieves!

The Do Not Call list does help.  At least now you know if someone you don't know is calling you on the phone, it's probably a scam.  Before the Do Not Call list a bunch of legitimate businesses had to be told to put you on their company's Do Not List, one company at a time and you had no way to know what was a scam and what wasn't.
Don't give anyone any information or confirm any information or call a number given to you when someone calls you on the phone.

If they call again tell them you aren't allowed to have a bank account anymore because scammers overdrew your account and you couldn't pay the bank.  (People that happens to are reported to a service that banks use.)

this number is associated with 866-468-9419 and 800-431-6211, which scammed my mother with the National medical card asking her to verify her checking account number on 7-31-12. i had been checking almost daily and missed until i see now YS Membership electronically debited $449 on 8-4-12. i have to call the bank again tomorrow but expect to spin wheels trying to get justice and the money refunded her account. my own police department will not publish this information to warn potential elderly victims because they get so many similar calls on other phone number scams.

i just called the "Third Party" company who is the "customer service" for Your Service Membership, the organization that is scamming elderly people across the United States. was told Third Party is in Canada, poite rep refused to give more detailed location, said her supervisor is Angelo. did give me what she said is her name and employee number. She gave me what she said is address for the Your Service Membership "sales company" - 3106 State Route 11, Suite 135, Millers Ford, New York 12959.  Google map cant find it. nothing on them on the web. Rep said my mother's bank account would be refunded in 21 days. said 2 days is not possible. called local bank. will be submitting an Affidavit of Unauthorized Charge Activity. bank will refund money but not likely they will be refunded by Your Service Membership or their Customer Service in Canada. bank security says calls are taken in Canada because they have to steal millions of dollars from US citizens before the FBI will investigate. bank security said scam companies will stall sending refunds because after 60 days they dont have to. i just tried to enter a complaint online with Better Business Bureau. was not able to get through on computer at work. will try at home. PLEASE screen your incoming calls. sign up for DO NOT CALL Registry, land line & cell numbers. NEVER give out or confirm banking information over the phone. Tell all your friends. watch your bank accounts, frequently on-line if you have access or one of your children otherwise. make reports of any scams to your banks & BBB asap.

I answered my mom's phone and a man with a heavy (barely understandable) accent said he was Max calling from the doctor's office (I think, hard to understand).  Told him she wasn't available & could she return the call & he hung up.  In reading the postings here, I think it might have been a Medicare scam.  Thank goodness he hung up!

A man with a thick accent called and wouldn't say where he was calling from (other than to say it was about a windows update) and hung up on me when I asked what he wanted.  He then called back a few minutes later, claiming he was "James" from " the medical office" in order to get someone else on the phone.  He hung up on me both times when he realized he wasn't going to get to speak to anyone else in the household.
