- katie| 1 replyThis number called me several times this week but never leaves a message.
- happytoesKeep calling every 3 days. Only rings once or twice, never enough for me to get to it on time, and I don't think I will be calling them back! Who is this?
- EWCall once a day. Only rings once or twice. No message. Never been able to pick up fast enough.
- ERCalls once a day sometimes more, leaves no message. ID says receivablesperf.
- mrdreed@comcast.net replies to Unavailable| 2 repliesI had the same person call me. They identified themselves as RPM a debt
collection agency. I looked up RPM and called them after getting the number off of my caller ID. The RPM representative said that they didn't
have anybody using the number RECEIVABLESPERF (410) 202-0027. I have seen a ton of complaints against the RPM collection agency. - CNThis number keeps calling my house. RECEIVABLESPERF (410) 202-0027 They never leave a real message - just some weird noises - plus one time a guy cursing because I didn't pick up the phone. I looked up the name and came up with Receivables Performance - a debt collection company. I have no debt other than my house. Others (above) have said that the actual company under this name does not use this number. I think it's a scam. Any credible debt collection company would (A) send a letter and (B) identify themselves properly. Besides - you would have first heard from the company to whom you owed the money before they turned it over to debit collection. I'm reporting it to the Do Not Call registry - my number is registered there.
- Caller: RECEIVABLESPERF
- ShareI have been receiving calls from RECEIVABLESPERF since July 5, 2008. They have used two numbers. One is 410-202-0027 and the other one is 703-291-9039. They have called a total of 5 times in two days. I answered one time and the man was very rude and hung up on me when I was asking him questions. Some of the questions were "Who are you? What is this regarding?" Also my number is unlisted.
- solIn seven days I have received 13 phone calls from this company, also using 703-291-9039. They have been asking for another person I do not know, when clarifying my name they made fun of my accent; I requested to not call anymore, they threaten that they will keep on doing so. I scared. I do not know what to do. I am not the person they are looking for.
- collector 814| 7 repliesAs a collection agent I can understand the complaints posted here, but there is always the other side of the equation. The agent has a job to do that most people think so bottom feeding. This is not true. There are many people who get into financial problems and don't understand how to handle it. Those that do know how, contact the companies that they owe and explain their problem and make arrangements to handle their debt. Others just tend to let the debt to "slide". When this happens, the company that the debt is owed to has several options.
1. To try contacting the debtor themselves, usually 6-8 times.
2.If the debtor ignores these attempts then they could pursue a legal course, but this will usually cost more than the amount owed to them and clog the court system many times more than it is currently .
3.Turn over or sell the debt to a collection agency.
At this point it becomes a "3rd Party Collection" and the FDCPA (Fair Debt Collection Act) and state laws come into effect. It can be found here.

Some of the reasons that people get called from collection agencies is people move and don't give their new address to those that they owe, change their phone number to stop the calls or they just ignore the debt.
I call them and inquired about employment and found out that they train their employees for 2 weeks about the FDCPA before they are allowed to make telephone calls. This is exceptional in that many other companies only give 2 to maybe 3 days training.
Here is some advice if you are getting these calls.
1. Call them back and give your name and address for conformation of who you are and have them remove your phone number from their system.
2. Check back in your records to see if you do owe the debt. If you do, be prepared to pay it or make arrangements to make payments. - Ruth - Springfield, OR| 2 repliesWell "Collector 814" they called me and I don't have any outstanding debit and I don't know the person they are asking for.
Your advice causes me to wonder if you are really one of them, because you're telling us to give them what they want ... personal info to steal our identity so they can rip us off.- Caller: Fake Collection Agency
- Call type: Debt collector
- enough is enough!!!Just got another call from this number. the woman was asking for someone named Weaver. I kept telling her to remove my number off their call list I also told her I knew the call was a hoax and I was going to report the call.
So out side of reporting it here where else can I report it to get these people arrested?- Call type: Debt collector
- GerenaThey ahve called numerous times asking for a Alfred and have been told they was told they was no alfred that lives at this number and that we have had this number for over 5 years. Was very rude and is getting annoying! They will not stop. How can I get this stopped.
- CrysThis number calls my cell phone anywhere from 1 to 3 times a day it has been going on for almost a month now finally left a message a few days ago and they're looking for my ex who I havn't even talked to in over 4 years! I keep telling them this person has not been at this in over 4 years and they still continue with the harassing phone calls. If this keeps going thru the week I'm going to take legal action.
- Caller: RPM
- StopCallingMeI got a call from this number and it only rang 2 or 3 times then stopped. I have no debts - I think they randomly call numbers hoping to snag someone into paying them. A SCAM.
- eightthirty replies to Ruth - Springfield, OR| 1 replyI used to be a collector and now I'm a debtor. Collector 814 is right. If you don't owe money. Answer the phone and tell them to cease calls. If you do owe money and you're unable to pay, collectors are specifically trained, not to harass, but to help you come up with solutions. The reason you probably get so many calls regardless of whether you owe the debt is because they use auto-dialers (or I am led to believe so) which I detest. However, it is an efficiency method for collection agencies due to the number of people who utilize caller id as a screening method, as I do. Third party collection agencies have more stringent federal laws to abide by than do first part collection agencies within the original creditors company. Know the FDCPA if you owe a debt. However, third party collection agencies have the ability to offer more viable payment plans and even settlement agreements for less than the balance in full. If you receive a written offer to settle in full take it in to consideration, but be sure it says "settlement in full" and you receive a letter after the payment is made stating the same. Also, be aware that dependent on the amount of savings you can be taxed on that savings. There is a lot of information available to consumers in debt on the web.
- viv| 1 replyI keep getting calls either from receivablesperf or it just says Salisbury, MD. no message just constant calls. I wish they would stop. I too have no debts.
- Caller: receiveablesperf or salisbury, MD
- easy breezy replies to mrdreed@comcast.neti no really rite? this person calls everyday for no reason and its [***] annoying the [***] outta me
- IrritatedWe get 1 - 3 calls a day and have been for 6 wks. After the first few, I found these sites and I NEVER answer. We do not owe any one anything and of the 2 phone calls where they did leave messages we don't know the person they are looking for. My husband has had this home and phone # for 30 years so I know they are not confusing us with previous people at this # or address. Interestingly...he recently changed our phone book listing to read only his first initial, not his full name and the calls started right after that book came out. The name of the person they are looking for starts with the same letter.
According to hundreds of complaints and a news story on CBS 5 out of the Bay Area: http://cbs5.com/seenon/pavini.RPM.debt.2.637375.html
answering this company does no good and will only egg them on. This is a phising scheme. Real debt collectors do not hang up after only 2 rings 3x a day for weeks. I filed a complaint with the FTC - Here is the site: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/
I listed all Receivables Performance Management's phone numbers and web address.
RE: Postings above by eightthirty and collector 814 - this company refuses to abide by laws. Answering and telling them they have the wrong number apparently unleashes a torrent of obscenities and will not stop the calls (see news report above as well as hundreds of complaints online). NORMAL collection agencies are supposed to abide by the laws and perhaps you two worked for them - but this is a fraudulent company engaged in phishing.- Call type: Debt collector
