OK, we will.  Since you asked here.  Anonymously.  We totally know who you are to stop calling, so this has been completely effective on your part.  Finally, someone outsmarted the telemarketers!  Why did no one think of this before?  Brilliant.....

If Scotiabank wants to get in touch with me, let them have the branch I deal with call me.  Period.  Passing the buck along to a telemarketer company smacks of "impersonalness", for want of a better word.  When you go to your bank branch you deal with someone from the same pool of tellers every day and you get to know them over time--that's the personal factor that makes the customer's relationship with the bank the best it can be.  But making the telemarketer the middleman eliminates this factor, because a telemarketer will not know the customer any more than a shark knows the difference between eating a fish or a swimmer.

Some of us have enough issues to contend with without being all but harassed by these companies.  Not all of us can afford to just drop everything to pick up the phone every time someone calls.  I, for example, am a musician, and part of what I do is multitrack recording.  I can't afford to have a telemarketer company call while I'm in the middle of a take--especially one involving an acoustic instrument that I can only record with a microphone.  I've had another telemarketer, one representing another bank that I deal with, actually do that and spoil a really good take in the process--even when you're recording with an instrument you can plug directly into your PA, or with MIDI, you can't concentrate on the part that you're recording while the phone is ringing.

Back in the early 1970s things were much simpler.  There was no such thing as telemarketers in the sense that we have them today; back then there only crank callers for the average household to deal with.  If a company called you, it was a company that you had dealt with, and more than likely at the store level.  Is it so difficult for companies to go back to that approach?  Do we have to be all but bombarded with multiple calls from multiple telemarketers?

Albert Einstein once said of his E=mc² theory that if he had known it would lead to the kind of destruction that it has, he would have become a watchmaker.  I can't help but wonder if Alexander Graham Bell would have had similar sentiments over his invention of the telephone.

if you want to have these telemarketers to stop calling, just get enough people together and write a letter to ur governing body in ur area and have phone telemarketing banned in the area

First there are already Federal and State laws governing telemarketing.  Second if the telemarketers are not in your state, the local governing body cannot regulate it.  Third, most of the calls received are from criminals disobeying the laws in place already, so additional laws will do no good.  Fourth laws in this country are not enforced in other sovereign nations especially in countries such as India, Nigeria, Russia, China, etc. where the best way to stay in business is to bribe the police and any other government official that could help your cause.

Are you on the National Do Not Call list ? I'd check it out. Also if you're fortunate enough to speak to someone when they call again, tell them to add you to their do not call list, most telemarketers have a do not call list within their own company..They have to add you

I can't think it's wise or necessary to give your account number because they're not calling your account.  I would think all that would be required , legitimately, would be your phone number and possibly email address, to remove you from the call list. But please, correct me if Im wrong.
