Same thing he tried to do to me but I called the title company to verify the check I told him that the check was fake and he was trying to scam me and I reported him to the FBI for internet fraud he told me he was reporting me to the FBI for stealing his money I laughed and told him go right ahead I'm sure they're waiting for his call. I must be a scam magnet this month because this is my second scam the first one was somebody trying to rent me a house that didn't belong to them both off Craigslist think I'm going to stay away from Craigslist for a while and just do local advertising when I have something to sell or when I'm looking for something

Any communication you receive by US mail which appears fraudulent should
be taken down to your local post office so the postal inspectors can take  a
look at it.  This could be mail fraud.

I just went to law enforcement with the same exact issue, same person, same bank.

Same here got the check, this Chris Murphy has been really pushy, I checked internet and saw this blog, looks like a scam, so am taking check and envelope to the post office to give to postal inspectors.  Also, sending a note back to Chris Murphy that I am on to him.

Had the same thing today.   Check was from Chicago title of Texas, Llc.   The bank and the title company do not seem to be interested in tracking home down.

I had the same thing happen, Chris said he would like to purchase my item on CL that he would pay $50 extra for my trouble of arranging shipping, Chris said he was off the coast of California at sea due to the nature of his work and that he would arrange for shipping, I got the check and it came from Lakeland Florida. There is a guy In Lakeland Florida that is named Chris Murphy.

I got a text from him too, I responded to him that he was a scammer because he can't get hi point of origin straight.

Same scam as above.  Craigslist.  New phone number used in Jan 2017, is 213 822-3023.  No name affiliated with phone number on search.  Texter identifies self as Chris Murphy.

He messaged me with this same message today
"This Chris Murphy from CA, but am currently on the sea right now due to my work frame,so glad to buy from you, I'll love to send you a business check as my mode of payment and please i don't mind adding $50 for you to hold the item for me, and I'll make sure item wont be moved until you have your money in hand. I'll need your Name and Address including the City, State, Zip-code so that i can mail the check to you via USPS Express Mail."
It's a scam his number is now 424-221-8604

I'm so so much enjoying messing with the same guy. I keep asking him how much do I get again, then I asked him what is your purpose of my item. (It's a certain item for a certain propose) he gave me a lame answer.
He keep saying let me know when you get the check. When I do get the bad check I'm gonna say I'm gonna keep it
