- Q replies to Vanessa| 1 replyDefinitely a legitimate number. I called a local Wells Fargo bank that I located off the Wells Fargo website. They gave me that number (480-394-3122) to verify cashier's check authenticity. I called the number, and they were able to verify that the check was issued with the dollar amount. They checked the check serial number, the account number, the dollar amount, and the date and verified that it was a Wells Fargo issued check.
- Scam AlertYes I received one aswell a fake check, make sure you let any criminal law fraud division know you received the check DO NOT TRY AND CASH IT but the great thing is these idiots are out of the country call from a disposable phone and give them them dumb act that's what I do to these [***] I have fun with them it just sucks that innocent people are getting suckered into this make sure you post and always check before you do anything.
- Caller: Fake check
- CWG40 replies to QTotal clap-trap. Take the check to the Wells Fargo Bank in person and ask THEM to check out its validity. You must work for the scammers.
- CWG40If anyone receives a fake check in the US mail, do not attempt to cash it, report it to the bank in person. Also make a copy of the check and take it to the post office and request the postal inspector to look into it. This is mail fraud as well as an attempt to defraud a bank.
- Caller: Informational post
- RetailerWe received the check from SC. (Where the customer lives). We originally called to check on it and no one would offer information to us other than an automated check verification system. I then did some digging online and found another Wells Fargo phone number and they actually gave me the (480)-394-3122 number. I was able to speak to a rep after going through their automated system and they confirmed that the check was already negotiate (as they put it, referring to it being taken out of the customers account.
Trust me, I will know within 30-60 days if it was a fraudulent check. Yet as of now and with me spending over an hour investigating it to be sure. I feel comfortable that it is legit at this point. I will repost in a month if it turns out wrong.
No matter what, I suggest that anyone getting checks do your homework because I am sure that even with that number listed, you never know unless you check it out!- Caller: Wells Fargo
- Joe| 2 repliesI called Wells Fargo to get a phone number to call to verify a money order drawn on their bank and they gave me (480) 394-3122. So, the phone number is legit. Anyone who doubts this number can do the same thing I did. Additionally, I called the number and the check was legit as well. DO YOUR OWN HOMEWORK and you will see who's lying and who's telling the truth for this post...

- BigA replies to Joe| 1 replySo you say you knew who the number belonged to, and had contacted them, and everything went OK? Then why did you look up this number? People look up thing because they don't know something, or in this case who the number belonged to. Yet you knew and looked it up anyway, just to tell us that it is "legitimate". Why? And why would you come to a website designed to report scams and schemes to post?
When in doubt people, always call the main bank number or go to the nearest branch office. - Frank replies to ColeenJust becaseu they said thery are from Wells Fargo doesn
t mean they were. it is common in scams to say your are a real ligit person. I used to get calls from the "IRS" - BenGot a cashier's check from 'Wells Fargo' for a credit card refund for a fee that they charged me in error; but I have no credit card accounts with Wells. Called Wells directly and verified that the check is a scam. On the bottom of the check I am suppose to call 480-394-3122 for inquiries. I never called the number.
- AnneI received a cashiers check today for an auto account I closed in 2015, it was a refund for GAP insurance. I called Wells Fargo Dealer Services and they had no record of a check being issued. I then called Wells Fargo Bank, explained the situation and was turned over to a check verification dept, but asked the phone number to that dept before I was transferred (it was the same number on the check). They did, in fact, verify the check was valid, the amount, and which Wells Fargo dept issued it. I almost threw it out, glad I didn’t!
- Call type: Valid
- SueI also received a cashiers check a few weeks ago for an auto account I paid off early several years ago. It was a refund for GAP insurance. I read in here that most of these checks were scams, so I tossed it to the side not sure if it was real or not. Now I have a letter from WF that says if I don't cash it soon, the money will be sent to the state, and I will need to go through the state to get the money. So today I called WF Dealer services 1-800-289-8004. They looked up my account using SS#, and verified that a check was issued on 2/27/19. Going to the bank today!
- Call type: Valid
- Jo - OreSame - received a 'cashier's check' today and it looks like it comes from Well's Fargo. Problem is - the routing number is faked. Dumb ass spammer - they can't get it right after all. I am going to play with these suckers now. DO NOT CASH ANY CHECKS THAT COME TO YOU - ask your bank first to check it out. These guys just can't stop and our FCC cannot stop them - seems they are too busy.
- Call type: Unwanted
- ChrisI also received a check, called Wells Fargo and was told they never issued a check. Also that it was supposedly a scam.
