Wow- I don't think I have seen a larger population of idiots in one location.  Chris, you should probably give up talking to them reasonably :)

YOU all purchased domains from them.  They are simply calling to ask if you need any assistance in setting up your website.   Did you know 50% of registered domain names are NEVER developed into a site because of lack of knowledge???  They are not offering any additional services, unless you ask specifically.

They call within the accepted hours of 8am-9pm.  They actually have a dialer system that is programmed to meet the FCC requirements.

I got a call just now from them after a few purchases 3 days ago ... but I think (I hope) my situation will be different because I chose a customer service rep for my account who gave me their email address and if I have questions we contact each other directly that way.  I'm hoping that will keep me from getting bugged about it. They know that they can just zip off an email (... this is the internet after all.)  Hope that idea helps.

you people are [***]. if it says godaddy then they are probably calling from INSIDE the company... only make sense. when you paid for the privacy, thats from the whois.net database on the internet, not from their internal call center to make sure you are doing good and not having any issues. I order a good number of things from them and I have never felt it was "telemarketing" when they call to ask how things are going and checking up to see if there was anything that I might have missed when ordering. just some good advice, when sign up for stuff, read the fine print before you jump to conclusions and go posting your ignorance all over the internet.

Since when is it unreasonable for a company to contact a client about business?  That's just plain dumb.  So what if you do business with them online?  I doubt your time is so precious that you can't afford to speak with somebody whose client you are.  You must not be a professional, and if you are, I doubt you're successful - because its just plain good business etiquette to follow up with customers.  Go ahead and trust companies online that you DON'T speak with on the phone, and have fun with that.

I desperately try to market my own line of designer poop to people via telephone. After four years of arduous effort, I have been unsuccessful. My clients include GM, Toshiba and the Republican National Convention.

They didn't sell your information, THEY called you. Yes, you may be offered new services when they call you, but they are calling you to help you. Most people new to them don't know what to do with what they have, and VERY frequently do not have the right tools to accomplish what they are trying to do.

If you actually request to be put on the do not call list, and give the information they ask for, they will do so. They call to go over your website with you, because of the high number of people that purchase services, and never actually use them to their potential, resulting in that person wasting their money. Lots of their customers need some help, and they go out of their way to try to give it to them.

This is especially funny, because of how many people "miss" the emails about their "important" domain, that they just happened to forget was expiring. They are the ones who you see posting complaints about how their registrar did something terrible to them, and it's all their fault that their domain is gone. The idea behind them actually caring enough to call you, and make sure your account is ok, is awesome. You don't want calls? So you call, and "complain loudly" to some undeserving telephone represtative that has heard the story of how it's all their fault that someone's domain expired, to tell them how angry you are for them trying to prevent the same thing from happening to you? Also, to the comment about no other online companies calling you, yes, no other companies do try to go that extra mile.

They don't call continuously, and you can request to be placed on the do not call list. Why do people freak out over every little thing? Just call, no need to be rude to the person on the phone, and and ask them not to call you!

You aren't going to need assistance in using the products you purchase on those websites, so why would they call you? You have NO IDEA how many of their customers buy things online, and get MORE than they should. If they tell you they have a concern about your account, they're not going to leave a voicemail with your account information, but they probably noticed something in your account that is a CONCERN.

The traditional telemarketing is cold calling, from companies you don't know, that are trying to sell you stuff. Go Daddy might offer you additional products, but they will also help you, and most people there will gladly not offer you more products if you ask then not to, and will just help with what you need.

You're a rare breed. Most of the people that "don't have questions" write or call in within a week of someone offering them help that they refused.

Then why did you give them your cell number? If you don't want to be called at it, don't give it!

What's the point of buying a domain name, if you aren't going to use it? That's why they call you after you just bought one domain!

Automated Godaddy message, thanking me for my recent purchase (I had a bunch of domains auto renewed). Nothing like being thanked by a recording to feel warm and fuzzy.

Amen, David.  This is a telemarketing call plain and simple.  GoDaddy is not trying to ensure you get the maximum value out of your domain, they're just trying to sell you services, which I clearly have chosen not to purchase.

My doctor doesn't periodically call me to see if I'd like a few more tests done.  By excusing their behavior, Jack shows that he is either a telemarketer himself or someone who enjoys getting sales calls.

I just received a call from this regarding my new registered website. I felt annoyed that someone would use my personal information and call me in the middle of the day, talk about my website, and suggest to increase their sales by trying to offer other hosting plans. I felt my invasion was invaded and that this was totally not acceptable. I have old numerous domains in the past and never did I receive such a call from such a company like GoDaddy. I agree that if I knew about this before hand, I would've never signed up with GoDaddy.
