My registered domain from godaddy.com is supposed to be PRIVATE, yet I just got a call from this number: 480-505-8859!!!   How did they get my info, if I paid EXTRA to have it private?

Contrary to your assertion, I DO receive a call from GoDaddy every few months. I'd rather not, but I just ignore it, they leave a voice mail.

This one was thanking me for my renewal - which occurred yesterday - and to make sure everything on my account is up to date.

It was an automated message, but no harm no foul.

I have been with GoDaddy for years. I get these calls from time to time after I have ordered something. I have never been upsold on the call and once they even suggested I discontinue a service I paid them for that was available for free elsewhere. Their customer service and tech support is top notch. I actually spend very little with them, but they treat me like an important client.

They don't sell your info. You chose to become their customer. I'm sorry that you're so unused to good customer service that you are suspicious when it happens. I will be a loyal customer for years to come.

Received a call today, let it go to vm. So, it's prerecorded, but no scam. The information they notified me about was timely and accurate. Also, the message asked me to please call their customer support. However, there could be some crooks out there faking this caller ID in order to scam GoDaddy customers.

That's who it is, I'm sure.  Godaddy.  But I also picked up and there was no one there.

Did a recent Go Daddy on line upgrade and started getting these calls?  THEY GET OLD  This caller calls me at least once a day with no one on the other end and I refuse to wait for recorded message as others below state.  I have my go daddy account set for NO PHONE CALLS ALSO.

    Seriously? Its GoDaddy.

I made some changes to my account yesterday, and they've called me a dozen times in the last 24 hours... as they do every time you buy or change anything.

XO is a telecommunications company that owns the lines and sells their service to GoDaddy.

    GoDaddy is in Phoenix.

Any more screaming about it not being GoDaddy?

    This is misinformed.

    GoDaddy is a marketing steamroller.

GoDaddy will call you any time you purchase something, anytime you change something, any time you do something they have some potential upsell for.  They will call you if you walk too close to the call center.  They will call you on a train, they will call you in the rain, they will call you on a boat, they will call you with a Goat(addy).

I've had GoDaddy for a decade, they ALWAYS call.  My wife used to WORK there, several of my friends used to work there.

Seriously... if they haven't called you, its because they have the wrong number, or because you've never altered your purchase with them in any way.

It is Godaddy.  They call frequently.  You are misinformed, whether you have a "post about it" or not.

Typing in CAPITAL LETTERS does not make you correct.  Did you bother to check and see who XO is?  They're one of the largest telecommunications companies in the country.  Go to their site, look at their services.  A bit of logic would tell you that the number is from one of their call centers that is being used by Godaddy to make these calls.  No, it's not Godaddy customer service, it's a separate group of people (probably outsourced) whose entire job it is to make these calls.

Take off the tinfoil hat and stop being so paranoid.  Christ.

Because it was Godaddy calling and Godaddy has your number.  They have to have your correct information on file per regulation so that it is available to law enforcement or by court order.  The private registration just makes your personal contact information not appear on the public database.

I just got a call from this # and they left a lengthy message welcoming me to GoDaddy.com. I transfered my domain there yesterday. So it is GoDaddy

Whoever it is: if they don't leave a decent message, they'll go on my blacklist. And since they didn't leave a message, that's 'who' they are: blacklisted.

Update: It must actually be Godaddy although they didn't leave a message, and they probably called because I had some items left in my shopping cart with them. But I am aware I didn't complete my transaction, and they might as well send an email notification.

Got a call from this number today.  They left a pre-recorded vmail and didn't even identify themselves as a company.  Thanks for all of your comments!  They can call 100 times and I will not respond! We all have to work together to shut these creeps down!

It IS from GoDaddy - usually a thank you/courtesy call for subscribers to some of their services.
