Caller ID just showed a bunch of numbers not related to anything.  Don't know who it actually was.  My landline is protected by a call blocker unit. They didn't follow the instructions from my call blocker so it blocked the call automatically.

Computer scammer. Wanted me to turn on my computer. Told him I didn't have one. Blocked number

Said that she was Pamela from Windows Technical Support. Wanted me to go to my computer and follow her instructions to stop network bots operating from my computer.

guy with an accent - said he was from aol. I hung up

No message, no valid CID, always evidence of a scammer telemarketer. Now blocked.

Have been getting lots of calls from this number.  The caller ID on our landline says "Invalid Number."  I let it go to the answering machine and can hear bits of conversation in the background and then they hang up.  This is really getting irritating but thanks to the previous posts, we will continue to let our answering machine pick this number up.

My CLID showed "Name Unavailable" which is always a sure sign of a telepest. Based on Alleykat and Doctee's responses, I could have fun with this one. "Really, my computer has a virus? Which one? I have several, you'll have to give me a MAC address or at least an IP address. Which OS is it? MacOS, Windows 10, or Linux? And how did you connect it to this phone number?" And so on.

According to Wikipedia, area code 485 is not used. Maybe that's why your provider showed it as "Invalid Number". If they call too much, you can always get a call blocker. Today is the first call to me from this number.

Have gotten a number of calls from these idiots. Last one said his name was Kevin from Windows Tecnical Dept. I said, you’re NOT from Windows, they don’t make cold calls and I highly doubt that in Pakistan your mother would name you Kevin.

In addition to my post: I tried to block this number and my call blocker says it’s not a valid number. Go figure.

Foreign accent, stated a problem detected with Windows in my computer.  Also, used sexually explicit request!!

Called twice in a row, left no message. I blocked based on information provided. Thanks!!

I just had a phone call from 1-485-272-2972. He did not identify what company he was with but told me he was calling to help me with the error message they are receiving reference Windows 10. When I asked what company he was with he said he was with Windows Technical Support. He was insistent that I go to my computer so he could walk me through the process to fix those error messages. When I lied to him and told him I was at my computer he got very angry and asked why I was lying to him. I politely informed him that he was a liar and a scammer and was NOT who he said he was and I hung up.
My guess is they are trying to hijack people’s computers when you give them remote access to your computer to fix the “errors” to hold your data hostage! DON’T DO IT!!!

Received a call from this number this morning, and again last Friday ... didn't recognize so didn't answer. They hung up after 4 rings.

Had this number call my phone twice today. Both times I did not answer the call. Went here instead to find out if the number had been reported. So glad I did not answer the call.

Couldn't tell if the accented caller was male or female, but said he/she was calling about my computer. I said "put me on your do not call list. He/she says, "I will not do that." I said again to put me on the do not call list and hung up. I must get one of these calls three or four times a week. I have six computers in the house and at least three are always on. It's like, which computer, Dude. Yeah, right. Definite scam!

Keeps calling. Doesn't Leave message. Telepest.

I might borrow your lines next time a scammer calls me up trying to fix my PC for me.  Thanks!
