Methinks these calls from "credit card services," "stimulus assistance," etc are really medical debt collectors in disguise (pretext calls/hangups). Small wonder the ad on the bottom of this page is to stop NCO Financial, a major medical debt collector. This is a cell phone and renewed on the donotcall list, so these calls are illegal. FYI, they began when i refused to pay a medical bill because of unfair and illegal practices (altering medical records as well as billing for the same services from 5 different addresses, in various combos, plus the agents refusing to identify themselves as anyone besides the medical entity) and always seem to come within a day or so of a rebill arriving in the mail. FYI, NCO and another major group of medical collection agencies based in Atlanta (Convergent) apparently don't think they need to follow the FDCPA either, and they've probably gotten so many numbers the FTC's call tracking software's flummoxed. Besides the FTC delegated all medical debt related problems to HHS' OCR, which does nada, plus my medical problem's not treated after getting "treatment" contrary to established protocols because the MD doesn't see a financial reason to care, probably. Give these callers financial information, and get scammed again, IMHO. Not that the Obama admin's gonna make 'em play fair, or our Virginia Republicans neither....

Been hearing from  these "fine" folks for a couple years now...I always ask to speak with them. I fake them out to be interested...give them fake credit problems...crazy debt info.....even told them I was the police AND the FBI recording them and once said since they couldn't help me I was forced to now kill my wife and kids (don't have either). Bottom line folks, try to block the numbers, report them to the FTC and if all else fails...have some fun with them...they are crooks.....make their day and at least have a good laugh at their expense! It gets my creative juices flowing!!

If they call just don't answer the phone. If you don't recognize the number or the name the don't answer it. It's that simple people. That & blocking the number are the best solutions.

We have been getting non stop calls from this number. I have tried the message to be removed from their list and that has not worked. Yesterday my husband got a "live" person when he answered and asked where he was calling from. He said they were credit negotiators. What they heck are they calling for? We have no credit cards in use to negotiate! When my husband said he wanted to be removed from their list, he hung up. An hour later we got a call from the same number! It is so
aggravating!!

503-902-8479 called me on April 17, 2012 at 11:42am. The number was not in my cellphone so I did not answer it. They did not leave a message either. I thought cellphone numbers were not suppose to be released?!

Didn't recognize number so didn't answer.  Apparently these are the same FRAUDSTERS and SCAMMERS who have been repeatedly calling me using different numbers.  Please don't forget to file a complaint with you State Attorney General's office.  The DNC list only prevents legitimate businesses from calling you against your wishes.  They do nothing to prevent fraud and scam calls.

Call was from Pacifictel ... lower your credit rates ... recorded message ... reported them to the National do not call registry. Probably where they got the numbers the first time ....

Am getting repeated calls from this number along with a recorded message urging me to "lower my interest rates".  WTF is this?!

read the fine print carefully, debt collectors, non-profits, and political groups are excluded from the Do Not Call list requirements

Called my home phone a short while ago. I didn't answer; they left no message. CID said "PACIFICTEL." I'm on the DNC list.

Just got a call from this number a few days ago.  After getting so many of these calls from so many different numbers I'm to the point where I think the only thing to do is ignore them.  Don't answer the phone if the number is unfamiliar. When these people call all you get is rudeness and frustration if you try to talk to them.  It is annoying, though, because they change numbers so often that sometimes you will wonder if it is a legit call when looking at the Caller ID.  I figure any person that I might care to talk to will leave a voice mail message and I can call them back.  I err on the side of not answering the phone now, if I don't recognize the number, because I'm sick of dealing with these calls.  Of course, I still answer if I recognize the name or number.  Pacifictel on the Caller ID is a giveaway, but that is only there on certain numbers and they have many, many numbers that they call from.  That's why the government won't be able to stop them.

I got a call from this number several times. They did leave a message. It was for final notice, press 1 to discontinue,2 to lower interest rate. Caller ID said garbled series of letters & numbers.

Their recorded message says to press 3 to stop further calls, which I have done various times.  But they keep calling.  If I speak to one of their operators, they just hang up on me.  I am sick of them!
