get calls like this all the time. sick of it this time it said ohio , it comes from other places also

Heifer International is a great charity, but this number is not their number.  Always donate directly to a charity so they will get 100% of the donation; NEVER donate thru these telemarketer calls.  Even if the charity has hired them to make the calls (and how do you know for sure?) the marketer always takes a cut.

I, too, never pick up numbers I don't recognize - especially if they are out of state.  A live person asked for me or my husband but then hung up when I didn't pick up.  I've been on the DO NOT CALL list since it started but I don't see any change.  It's just like trying to remove my name from catalog lists.  Good luck with that!

Showed up on my caller id.

It's a fund raising organization.  They are exempt from Do Not Call regulations.  If you call the number back there is a recorded message that allows you to be removed from their call list.

Received call from 513-229-9279 on 4/11/13 st 12:52 p.m.ET that went to vmail. Caller hung up without leaving a message.

They are asking for money for Salvation Army, the trouble with this is their location Ohio
for a corp that is in Tustin CA?

The # 513-229-9279 must be a scam operation. They identified themselves as Catholic relief services. They ask for my husband then, wouldn't leave a message for him. The strange part is, the phone is listed under my name, he doesn't know the number so he couldn't  have given  it out to anyone. Beware of this number...

Dang, them!!! I thought I had eliminated the last of these types of calls and wouldn't you know it...another one starts up!!!

Never answer calls from anyone, or any number you don't know. Perhaps we should "play rough" with these idiots and destroy their calling locations if they can be identified accurately since they refuse to obey the law and government is incapable of stopping them. They have no intention of complying with the Do Not Call List. The Do Not Call list is probably the same list of numbers they use to call people since it guarantees them a valid list of numbers that are kept updated with people's numbers who do not want to be harassed.

I answered and talked to a polite young man who identified his concern as "Care International" when I asked. However, when I informed him that we had already asked for our name to be removed from their list and have contacted our state's Attorney General about these calls, he promptly hung up.
