I keep getting phone calls from 513-229-9289, and when I answer, there is no answer from the caller. I suspect by answering I am letting them know I'm home.  It is a bit scarey!  Can this number be stopped from calling me?

DON'T PICK UP AND DON'T ANSWER.   MOST TIMES THEY JUST WANT TO KNOW IF ITS A VIABLE NUMBER WHICH THEY THEN SELL TO OTHER TELEMARKETERS,   I NEVER NEVER ANSWER IF I DON'T RECOGNIZE NUMBER.  IT TAKES AWHILE BUT EVENTUALLY THEY GIVE UP.   I only get maybe 3 calls a week.    Do not call doesn't work, they have ways around that.  Don't call back, don't press 1 to take off list.
They are just gathering info.  
Bottom line,   Don't pick up, don't call back, don't try to talk to them.    They don't care!  And it won't work anyway.

I concur with Bobbie's comments in the message above.   There is no point in responding to "robocalls".

I have a Sentry Call-Blocking device on my phone, purchased from Amazon.com... not cheap, but it has
a large capacity for holding blocked numbers.

I have the Panasonic. It's OK but I would not buy it again.

1) Even after you add a number to the blocked list the phone will still ring once then answer and hang up so you still have to deal with your phone ringing
2) When on the recharging base it will make a "Beep-Beep_Beep" noise then switch to charging mode when already fully charged. The other night it did that at 2:30 AM and I went flying out of my bed thinking it was my home alarm chime :-(

The NSA spies on all of us but yet cannot track these rip off artist down and put them out of business. Our government is useless.

I miss the days when only family and work had my number.  I get more and more calls from these numbers and do not pick up.  I am now so phobic about answering ANY call that II could be missing a call that's an emergency or is legit.

I just scream really loud when I answer, or press and hold one of the buttons on the phone, just to be rude in return as these calls come during the day when I'm sleeping after working all night if they have the misfortune to awaken me.

These calls are a detriment to the security of our familys. if ur not sifting it out of your mail box, your trying to keep your computer browser from not freezing from so much ads that have bad code. Or waiting for 10  to 12 comercials to fly by before you resume watching your favorite tv show.  Why not cancel the phone, get rid of cable, and put a shredder at the mail box.
If 3000 people stuck together and turned in the phone somethings got a happen.

I am on the do not call list.

800notes is not affiliated with your callers, we are not calling you either. 800notes is a forum for reporting who calls you and any information you may have about the call to share with other forum users. It is highly doubtful that your callers are reading here also.

Do consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $60.00 or so.

I did not get near this many junk messages until I signed up for Ma Bell's caller ID.Coincidence? Any one else?

This number just called and left no message.  I didn't call back.  We are in Los Angeles

They're back.  I just got a call from them.  Caller ID said Ohio and the phone number.  I never, ever talk to these people.  Hang up when they call or just don't pick up in the first place.  Do not encourage them in any way, shape or form.  They still call from all over the country, with every scam, charity and political donation request, but not as much.  And, I actually experience days where I do not get even a single phone call from these scam companies.  I love it when they give up on me.

Don't pick up the phone.    I know it's annoying.  But then they know they have a working number.  That's why they don't talk....then they sell your number to others
Somebody told me this and I stopped calling back, stopped picking up, stopped telling them to take me off list,.....they dontbcarecabout it,   And guess what.....it works....takes a little while, if you have caller I'd,  you can screen calls, don't pick up.   Gradually it dwindles down.  And now I rarely get one,  once in awhile , if I get 4 a month it's a lot.  So I'm trying to pass this on .   Takes a little patience but it works

I am learning; these bottom feeders are relentless!  As many have stated here, just don't answer the phone - I NEVER answer callers whose numbers I don't recognize!!

I created a name in my address book called "Unknown". I add these numbers to that name, and have them all sent to voice mail. If they want to leave a message, I will consider calling them back. If they don't leave a message, they must not really want to talk to me.

Audrey, Here is what I do.  If I don't know the number I don't answer.  If it is important they will leave a message. But NEVER call the number back!!

Caller ID "Ohio".  No message.  No doubt more trolling bottom feeders.

Solicitation of donations for Judicial Watch.  Seemed to be using a list of previous donors.  Caller ID = OHIO.
