I think this is a number that covers up the real number the caller is using. The person who called me did leave a message, and gave me a completely different number to call them back at. It was a State of Michigan office.

What did the state of Michigan Office want/need?

What do they do?  I tried looking them up online but wasn't able to find it listed on the Michigan.gov website.

This number is from the State of Michigan, History, Arts and Libraries department.

Called my cell, no message, this number was identified.  when I called back it said it was a non working number for the State of Michigan and gave me another number.  When I called it, it disconnected immediately, at 517-373-1837.

just got the call and they left a voicemail. some guy i could barely understand but he gave me a number to call. 866-500-0017 which i believe is just the unemployment office. said i had to call that either cause i missed a week or it's because my claims up...couldn't really understand what he was saying.

Left a message; it was from the Bureau of Elections regarding my state senate campaign committee.

The number appears to be a "masked" number used for a variety of reasons.

Call came up as: 517-335-0002 ST OF MI DMB IT

No message left. Never seen this number before.

I  just called the number back. it gives 517-373-1837 as the callback number. Like another poster has said, immediate disconnect, called back one more time and it is the Michigan Operator number. She told me 335-0002 is a generic number the state uses and it could be from any department.

I never called it back, but the voicemail they left me said to call them back at a 1-800#. It wasn't a recording either. This number called me again today and it was to confirm an appointment I had relating to my SSI. They clearly stated that they were the Social Security Administration.

I received a call and a woman said my name like she knew me. Without acknowledging her, My response was  "Who is calling?". She said that she can't say and that she was returning my call. I told her no one called from this phone# and just hung up.

Got a 2nd call from this number a few minutes later and I did not answer. No message was left on my voice mail.

I called the # back and the recording said it was a non working number for the State of Michigan and gave me another number for assistance, 517-373-1837.

Got a call from 517-335-0002 and no message was left.....

This number called twice this morning.  A Saturday morning before 8 AM no less.  Came up as previously posted, "ST OF MI DMB IT".  First time, no message was left.  Second time, answered call.  Barely understandable man on the other end.  Stating something about setting up a very important emergency meeting first thing Monday morning.  I cut him off right there and responded with a no thanks and hung up.  The state of Michigan has no reason to be calling me, especially for an emergency.  I have zero debt, taxes are paid, not claiming unemployment, I'm an official voting resident of Montana, etc...

Same here, once yesterday and once today.  Called the operator in Lansing where most of those exchanges are and she said "was it (335-0002)? I can tell you that it is a government number but it is not connected".  How weird.  Can't call it back either-

I know this is a fake State of MI # as I work for the state, why my cell was called I don't know. She asked for someone I never heard of then hung up?.....

I received a call from 517-335-0002 on Monday, 12/13/2010 at 8:33 AM EST.  No message was left.  I called the number back & a recorded male voice says "You have reached a non-working number for the State of Michigan.  If you need further assistance, please call 517-373-1837."  Well, I didn't know that I needed further assistance, but I guess I did now, so I called the referenced number.  Like people said above, it is the Michigan Operator.  All she could say was that the number that I received a call from was an outbound-calls only phone number for the State of Michigan and that maybe someone in some Michigan government office was trying to return my call so I should call back whoever I was waiting for or wait for them to call back.  I told her that I did have some business with the state, but that I wasn't in the middle of any communications about it.  She said I should just try calling them back anyway.  I said I'd take the second option of waiting for them because if they really wanted to reach me they could make a professional phone call and leave a proper message.  I then thanked her & promptly hung up.

A specific department did leave a message when they first called - but it didn't appear in my voicemail inbox until 2 hours later.  But, it still doesn't negate the non-helpful nature of a generic outbound-only phone number or the Michigan Operator.

Some one just called me from this number I don't answer calls I do not know so of course I rejected it. My friend called it back and it said that its a non working number. All I know is that some one has been calling this new cell number I have since I got this phone asking for a Bob. I don't know a Bob!! I getting my number changed today Bob has really pissed me off getting bill collectors to call my phone.
