I, too, just got a call from this number, 4/4/11 at 4:20pm. No one was there when I responded. have no idea who it was.

I just received a call from this number 518-782-6808 at 8:14pm on 4/4/11 on my cell phone.  They did not leave a message so I have no idea who it is.

I got 10 calls in about a half hour, and answered it twice, but no answer...

Received call from 518-782-6808. I didn't pick up and they didn't leave a message.

Siena Research from Upstate NY.Just called at 9PM I berated the guy for calling and demanded that my number be taken off he hung up with out answering my questions.

Do not call lists don't apply to non-profits.

It's legit.  It's from the Sienna Research Institute.  From their website:

It's not a telemarketer.  They do surveys of NYS voters and publish a report.  It's a college, and it's most likely not-for-profit.  All of you screaming that you're on a Do Not Call list should realize that non-profits are exempt from that list.

Yeah, really nice of you to "berate" the guy.  Don't stop to think how glad you are that you're not stuck with a job like that, or that it's probably a college student trying to complete a project and get credit for a class.  No, you yell at the guy and make him hate humanity.  Show him what a big man/woman you are!

I don't care whether it's a student or just some filthy scammer. If they call me they're going to regret it. I never asked for these damned calls. I don't call strangers. LEAVE US ALONE. If you can't take the heat get out of the boiler room.

People are sick and tired of these calls. So if you think it's ok to make a "living" calling strangers, GET USED TO GETTING ABUSED. Or get a real job, scum.

Obnoxious, inconsiderate survey.  Don't forget the people at the top of this "not for profit" annoyance are pulling down paychecks the size of which most of the rest of us would love and it's doubtful that they allow themselves to be subject to these kinds of unsolicited phone calls.

Calling to a cell phone w/ CNY area code.  Called them back on land line and asked them to stop as the phone they were calling on is charged by the min. as it's kept for emergency purposes only.  Doesn't work; calls continue.  Also, the # is on national do not call list.  Really want it stopped!

All I got was music playing—a Willie Nelson song actually and then it disconnected.

I received a call on my cell phone but no message.  I do not know how they received my cell number.  

I am supposed to be on a do not call list.

I don't live in NYS and I am receiving calls (and hang ups), so your theory is wrong. If a person gets multiple calls with no message that's harassment, and being a non-profit doesn't give you the right to be obnoxious.
