Telemarker from Siena telemarketing called my daughters cell  phone & I SCREAMED at her, telling her that we are on the do not call registry.  Don't know what she was saying but I disconnected the call.  She disrupted us during dinner

I received a called from 1-518-782-6808 tonight - if it is the Sienna College Research Institute, then they are researchers and I believe are permitted to randomly dial numbers. They are required to have a protocol for dialing people - I don't think it should hang up on people the way it did me or maybe you.

Yes, I am receiving annoying unauthorized harassing calls from 518-782-6808. They never identify themselves nor leave a message so listen up! Whom ever you may be, I will be reporting this matter to the legal authorities who will be immediately investigating this matter, and they will be prosecuting you to the full extent of the law so stop!!!!!!!!!!!Stop calling

keep receiving calls from 518  -  782  -  6808 do not leave messages, No idea who it was until I read this blog.  How do a block this number from my phone?

Stop sticking up for whoever it is Lara.  Personally it makes me wonder if it is you or someone you know who is making these extremely annoying phone calls.  This # called me today @7:30pm and hwen I returned the call all I heard was a song playing in the background....

Received a call from (518) 782-6808 on October 10, 2012 @ 8 pm.  CID read "Siena Research".  On our answering machine was a robo-message already well into its spiel about a survey.

Just asked if I had time to do a survey about economic conditions, which I didn't as I was at work, but the caller was courteous.

Siena Research calls me three time a week. This has to stop.

They really need to stop calling!  Every darn night!   Unbelievable.

But if somebody's job is to be a nuisance, there's no sense in making their job easier and making it easy for these companies to employ people to do that job. I like to think this is why there are fewer of those people that hand out flyers in NYC now, because not a lot of people are nice to someone shoving papers in their face (I also hate how wasteful these flyers are, they often end up as litter on the streets).

My message was "an error in the system has been detected."  Then they hung up.

DNC does not apply to researchers or political calls.  Big loophole.  But no reputable researcher is going to call you over and over, nor will they call you late at night.

Have you readers ever heard of caller ID spoofing?  The crooks can send across the wires any name and number they want.  They often select known companies that you would recognize like Amex hoping to get you to pick up.  But a scam is a scam.

Best tactic, do not pick up, and never call them back or hit the voice response option they have on their msg "hit 1 to be taken off our calling list".  All you do is confirm to them they got a valid number.

Odds are they will hang up before your answering machine picks up.  But here is a good one that fools them.  Don't play any outgoing msg.  They  get a dead line and will eventually take you off their list as a non working number.

Of course, until the next schmuck gets you.

The caller identified herself as Dianne from the Siena College Research Institute. She wanted to speak with the youngest person in the household who would participate in a survey. I nicely told her there was no one in this house that would be considered young (whatever she meant by young.) She nicely said goodbye and I blocked the call.

It's funny, but if you look at their web site, it would appear to be a legit company that subscribes to "American Association of Public Opinion Research (AAPOR) Code of Professional Ethics and Practices."  I wonder what the supposed ethics and practices blocks?  apparently calling repeatedly even when asked to stop is not an issue with their ethics.   I would just consider them a scammer and not answer since nothing you can do will stop them from calling you; they are immune from DNC and they have zero ethics anyway.

I got the same call from the same place.

Some of these calls are telemarketing, while most are out and out SCAMS! -- These people are criminals! Telemarketing should be against the law! They are accessing your personal phone, which you are paying for by the way, to harass you and call you repeatedly! Many times when you don't answer your phone, these *ssholes will step up the amount of times they call your phone... I had one of them call every 15 minutes one day.... If you block their Number, they will just call you from another number. Unknown Caller, unidentified caller and all these other ways of calling people without giving out any identity should be deleted and they shouldn't be able to call you that way! -- It makes Caller ID completely worthless... Be nice to these @ssholes? I DON'T THINK SO!!!   BS!!! These people are shady criminals, and not honest working people!

1:58 p.m.call to my cell phone (only 3 close friends have my number).  I didn't answer.  Grateful for this website and the info here.
