- Mumba| 2 repliesIf this is a scam then how did they get our phone number? We have an unlisted phone number and the only 'telemarketer calls' we get are from these people. It's always on behalf of RBC and we get called from them at least once a month. I think they are getting our phone number from the bank. Otherwise, how do you explain that we never get any other phone calls? This is very disturbing to think that my bank would break that kind of confidence.
- AmandaI just got a call from this number - the guy said he was from RBC and wanted to know if I was interested in 'Info Protector'?
He went on and on about RBC Info Protector - I tuned out half way through as his speech.
He said that there is a free 30 day trial - after that it's 8.95/per month. If you sign up today for the free trial you get a Free Savers Guide worth $50.00 valid at lots of places, apparently.
I said I wasn't interested about 3 times and then he gave up.
I will be calling RBC to report this. - MimiTry to register your numbers with the National Do Not Call List. I just registered after receiving an annoying call from this #

- ParanoidMuch| 6 repliesFirst off, I don't work for any telemarketers or RBC, and I get these annoyance calls myself, so I get it. But, an awful lot of you guys are being a bit paranoid. RBC *does* contract out to call centers to sell add-ons like insurance and balance protection. Their own employees don't necessarily have the information regarding these programs, so when asked they will say they don't know and remind you to be careful of identity fraud, because that's their job. I worked for a similar campaign at a call center when I was in university back in the 90s for RBC. We were *not* allowed to say we were calling from RBC, but "on behalf of Royal Bank".
If you don't want to receive any more calls, then decline the product and politely ask the agent to change your status to "Do Not Call", then contact RBC and let them know you don't want your number shared with any third party companies to receive calls on behalf of RBC. The reason this company (Famtel or whatever) is calling is because you (or someone in your house) do business with RBC, and they are contracted by RBC to make business calls on their behalf. It usually takes a while for the info to cycle through, but eventually you will stop receiving the calls. Don't yell or berate the person on the other end, they're just doing what RBC is paying their company to hire them for :)- Caller: RBC
- southern ontariostop littering my phone...[***]!!
- spjust got a call (in montreal)- i get so many of these scam calls. thanks for letting me know. i didn't pick up, they didn't leave a message.

- filmgirl replies to youbestbringchocolateThank-you for posting some of the other numbers that these guys use. I would just like to add to this list of numbers as I have been harassed by this company from the time I opened an account with RBC. They always call claiming to be with RBC and try to sell various ridiculous things like credit card insurance and identity theft protection and the like. They call from what appears to be all over Canada! They call my cell relentlessly, daily, even two or three times a day and never leave a message! Here are a few more numbers that I've had to block in addition to those already listed. And yes, I've been called by all of those too!:
705-797-2495
778-383-3383
902-442-7646
514-225-7625
587-880-4306
519-266-6802
877-330-9754
800-769-2510
Blocking their calls seems to help, eventually, although they keep trying from time-to-time. I won't get any calls from them for a while and then I'll suddenly get bombarded by multiple numbers for a period of time, then they go away for a while....then it all starts up again. It's ridiculous. - ManitobagirlI too received a call last night from this number claiming to be working with RBC, asking if i had any stolen identity protection. I asked him who he was again and he said Samtel working with RBC, I said sorry I do not give information to people I do not know. I quickly called RBC and they said they have no one from that company working with them. I plan on reporting this to the RCMP Fraud Department.
Heven help them if they call me again! - Fraud Advisory replies to ParanoidMuch| 2 repliesLooks like a shill for the fraud posting lies and garbage here ..
This is in fact a phishing fraud looking for credit card numbers, not RBC.
