Calling about something is wrong with my computer. Technical support scam.

Tech scam

Tech scam.  He wants to fix my computer because it has viruses.  played along until he asked me to get in my computer.  Told him BS, and hung up

called about something infecting my computer.  I could barely understand him...  I just hung up.

Told me he was calling from Windows Tech Support and that my computer was sending out error messages.  Difficult to understand.

Called the house phone.
Asked me about my "windows computer" and it said that he was from Microsoft and was calling about errors that had been showing up for a long time.
I asked him "which computer?"
He said "your windows computer, ma'am."
I said "yes, which one?"
He says "how many computers do you have?"
I began to list them off. And then I asked which Microsoft account the errors were under.
He promptly hung up.
I went to call the number back.
They are using a number scrambler.

On the caller ID it's showing up as "Michael Chapman." Someone should let this guy know. Lol

Did they just call you?

Computer scam.  Caller ID said Michael Chapman.   Couldn't understand guy and did not want to.   Said calling about my computer.  I Hung up.

Caller ID said Arizona call.  Middle-eastern man told me my Windows computer was sending bad info to them.  I asked who I was sending info to, and he said "to us".  I asked if his computers were connected to every computer in the world, and he said "just Windows computers".  I told him I use Apple computers and didn't understand how I could send bad info to a Windows computer.  He asked if I am so-and-so (some name I couldn't understand).  I said yes.  He said, "then you are using a Windows computer because we know what you use."  I disagreed, and he hung up.  These guys are not professional, for sure.  I have never found one who knows enough about computers to dispute what I tell him.  I'm a computer tech, by the way.  I can confuse anyone with computer [***].

They called me as well.  When I asked where they were located, he gave some addy in Illinois.  When I told him I was Googling that addy, he hung up.  Scammers!

Called about viruses on my computer.  When I asked what country they were calling from, he said, Illinois.  He said they needed to gain access to my computer to "clean it up.  For $149."  I asked for the name and addy of the company and then told him I was Googling that addy.  He hung up.

Is number disconnected ? Tried calling back .

The caller claimed to be from Microsoft and calling because of the errors my computer had been sending  and it was ready to crash. Told him had just purchased MacAfee virus and spyware..he hung up before I could finish

guy said he was from "technical support" regarding "issue with your computer".  I asked which computer - he hung up.

Just got a call from this number. There was a lag between my saying "Hello" and a man with a heavy India accent. The voice sounded recorded. The voice said he was calling about my computer. I asked him "What's a computer"? He said the one with Windows. I told him I had windows in my house but they worked just fine and asked him "Why do you want to mess with my windows?" He responded, "No, no - it's your computer, we need to fix it." He sounded frustrated. I said, "I just don't understand what you want . . . " The scammer hung up.

Same as above. I asked where he's calling from. He said USA. I said where in the USA?  He said Illinois. I said then why are you calling from an Arizona number?  Are you confused on where you are?   He said yes, confused. I said go pound sand and he hung up!  Surprise!

A man named "John" calls stating there's a problem with my computer.  I told him I don't HAVE a computer & he said Then what DO you have?

"James" called saying he was from Itech Solutions in Illinois, but he was calling from an Arizona cell phone.  He said they have been receiving error reports of hidden infections in my Windows PC.  He couldn't tell me which PC, exactly; he just kept saying, "The one you are using."  I asked him how long this has been going on and his response was, "I cannot say for sure, but a couple of months."  I asked him, "Since you have all the error messages, you can tell me when exactly it started."  He was getting frustrated with me, HAHAHA!  I then told him, "It's funny that I have been receiving calls from multiple companies claiming they are Windows support and I have critical infections that are going to crash my PC for multiple years now."  He hung up when I said, "I bet you're in India," and asked his real name.  I love irritating these idiots.

Called about my Windows Computer and then hung up. I must have voice that suggests I can see through scam.  Caller ID as Michael Chapman. This site very helpful in confirming suspicions.
