I received this call on 8/25 from our buddy Steve Martin.  I called back this morning from my office and talked with Hannah Beech, a woman with an Indian accent.  She became very angry with me when I started asking questions.  She then told me to stop wasting their time and hung up.  I went to the Treasury website and filed a complaint

yup, Steve Martin.  2 weeks ago he was Jordan Scott.  Same threats as everyone else is receiving; "intentional effort to avoid appearing before a magistrate or grand jury for a federal criminal offense."  Treasury fraud on-line report = https://www.treasury.gov/tigta/contact_report_scam.shtml

Got same call, heavy accent ... called them back to tic them off ... told them I was going to continue to call and interupt their day....

Will not do any good but makes me feel better....

Please do not call these people back  They are definitely fraudsters and may be trying to forward your phone calls when you call them back in order to obtain  private information about you, which they will then use to apply for credit etc.

They actually left a message on our answering machine with a call back number.  They've got a lot of nerve!  "Federal magistrate" and "criminal offense".  Oh, and he ends the call with "help us to help you", lol!  Said his name was "Steve Martin", and I'm sure it's the same lame brain that calls to tell us that our computer is sending Microsoft alerts that we have a computer virus.

Wow! Steve Martin has always been good with accents but this one takes the cake!

Got a call this morning... recorded message same as reported by folks earlier. Not going to waste the energy to call back.

Had reported a similar phish from a 202- number to IRS some months ago, but their response letter in the mail a month later was somewhat scarier than the original call. I wasn't sure if they were saying thanks, or telling me my paperwork was incomplete! Am going to report this number anyway.

Same call from Steve Martin...Told him I saw him at Red Rocks in the late 70"s and he was very funny. He replied I owe $5,000.00 to the treasury department. I told him the check is in the mail.

Yes it is hard.  Pretty near impossible.  Invest in a call blocker.

why can't these [***] be sued by the Government?

This is the second time we called you.  You have a problem.with the US Treasury.  I need to call him or we will be called before a Judge.I can get help form him solving the problem.  *If I do not call him for help i will be taken to court.

Most of these calls are coming from India and Pakistan.  We have no jurisdiction there in those country's.

Our friend Steve Martin with an Indian or similar South Asian accent called and left a second request voice message threatening various forms of legal action.  Will report to IRS but doubt these types of things get their attention.

Heavy Indian/Pakistani accent threatening me with legal action before a Federal Magistrate or Federal grand jury if I didn't call him back.

I got the same call - Steven Martin threatening about federal criminal action if I ignored him.  I told him I thought it was a scam and that I'd call the US Treasury and IRS.  When confronted, he said "we should just hang up".  lol

Left a message about a warrant. Called back and the same Indian man who left the message picked up and said his name was Andrew Pearson (?). Said I owed $5,880 then $5,890 in 2011 taxes and that I would be put into (non-bailable?) prison within 3 hours of the warrant being issued. Said I should have received 3 certified letters from the IRS.

I was actually scared. Fortunately, I looked up this number while I was on hold waiting for his "supervisor" and learned that this was a scam.
