Yea, sob called my house and got one of my kids all upset with his bs about tax and being arrested. Called him and told him to mail me any preceding he claimed to have. I knew he was full of crap. Now I will call him and give invalid credit card number just to waste his time.

Hey Ralf, I just got a call from this a$$ clown Steve Martin now saying the EXACT same thing.  This is like the 4th time different scenario from different people where they make these threats.  I haven't returned his call but trying to come up with a good trick on him.

Total scam.  Originates in either India or Pakistan.   Block and ignore.   DO NOT RETURN THE CALL!

I’m an Enrolled Agent with the IRS (Inactive). IRS does not initiate contacts by phone.  US mail only.   IRS does not file lawsuits.   Court action, if any is handled by the DOJ and all parties are entitled to legal assistance if it is a criminal matter.  But--tax disputes are for the most part civil matters.  90% of all IRS tax disputes are settled administratively.  IRS has absolutely no authority to call on local law enforcement for anything. Local law is never involved in IRS tax disputes. IRS does not threaten to involve local law enforcement or to arrest you for nonpayment of federal taxes.  IRS has no powers of arrest.    If LE is necessary, US Marshals do the job.  IRS does not cold call anyone and demand immediate payment of  money.  IRS does not ask for financial information over the phone.   IRS does not accept Green card money paks for payment in any case.  No one is prosecuted for ordinary tax disputes. IRS has absolutely no authority over anyone's professional license. Professional licensing is handled by state governments.  Yes, levies on property to satisfy an existing tax obligation do occur, but only after a very long period of negotiation. And yes, liens are placed on individuals but  usually after a lot of negotiation and a failure to reach a settlement.    All determinations of tax liability are subject to appeals.  All  contacts by the IRS are initiated by US mail.

Same thing happened with the call from this number.  Heavy accent told my machine that the federal magistrate was filing charges against me for criminal activities.  How stupid do these people think we are?  Someone has got to stop this from continuing.  The number, out of Stafford, VA should be shut down.

Scam call, blocked it.  Received the following recorded message by a man with a clear south Asian, perhaps Indian accent:  "Hi this message is intended to contact you, my name is Steve Martin and I am calling regarding enforcement actions executed by US treasury intending your serious attention. Ignoring this will be an intentional second attempt to avoid initial appearance before a magistrate judge or a grand jury for a federal criminal offense. My number is 540-699-1528 I repeat 540-699-1528. I advise you to cooperate with us and help us to help you. Thanks."  The message repeats over and over.

We received a message left on our home phone. The name of the person was the famous "Steve Martin" it was left on our home phone on Friday August 28th at of all hours 12:45 AM ??? working late again Steve! He said he was an Enforcement Action Agent, representing U.S. Treasury and Magistrate Court. Our charges are Federal Criminal Offenses! I'm so scared. He advised that this issue is serious and we needed to call him so he can help us clear it. And of course his # 540-699-1528  I recently retired from state law enforcement and can pick these scammers out! It's too bad that the DO NOT CALL LIST  registration was a joke to sign up too . We get these calls constantly! I will have to get rid of my home phone. Now we are getting them on our cells phone. Hate this mess. Is there someone out there that can make this stop!

William Oliver Badge 117086 advised he was with the US Treasury Dept and there was a warrant for my arrest as I had not paid my 2011 taxes.  He kept repeating this information and that he was trying to help me and if I hung up they would send an officer to my house to arrest me.  I told him I was calling my lawyer to handle this matter.

Wasting their time is like poison to them.  Play along, pretend you are poor and on Social Security.  Bargain down the amount.  Take forever to find your credit card.  Play the radio, preferably talk radio, loudly near the phone.  Extra points if you can get them to call you back!
