Can I do anything to stop this Cal Pal and other "caller ID Not Provided" calls? I work from home so it's extremely annoying. I never pick up but the call waiting signals from these guys are very distractive when I'm on conference calls or important work-related calls.

Called 800 622 5725, a female voice picked up immediately and I asked to remove my number.  She promised to do that.  We'll see what happens now.

It's a scam.

California police associations never call asking for donations

Yes, they do.  It is almost impossible to get off their list.  I made a donation 3 years ago and now I have been putting up with the constant harassment since. They hide behind their charity status to be able to lawfully badger the he** out of people.  2 or 3 calls a day with no signs of stopping.

If they are already calling you, DO NOT give them a donation, it will only make things worse.

These people are weird and suspect. They called and hung up when we asked them to place us on the DO not call list. I'd stay away from this gang of thugs

Called at 5:40pm. No message. No ID.

I must have had a least 100 calls from them since August. Sometimes they call at 9pm. Some of us have jobs...Helloooo! I do not agree with 501c3 charities being exempt from the DNC list. Especially this one!

Got a call from this number at 5:24pm.  I answered the phone.  No one spoke up so I hung up.  I got a call from this same number last week after 9pm so I let the answering machine take it.  No one left a message.  They hung up. I'm getting really tired of this.  Being on the DO NOT CALL list doesn't seem to help!

They call my home and my cell phone during work hours, during dinner, and on the weekends. They ask for donations.

Just got a call/hangup from Cal Pal.  My first one ever.  Looks like I have a new enemy...  :(

Multiple calls, no message ever left. Am on "do not call" list.

Called in the afternoon, when I answered they hung up. Very annoying.

Hope someone at CAL PAL can understand to be little more Human.
There are better ways to get contribution than calling to get nothing but irritating people.

In a free democracy, nobody stops them, strange. Are we in 3rd world?
People always contribute for the cause but with a torture like this, they get bad name only.

We receive calls from the same phone number with "CAL PAL" in the caller ID... But they aren't calls from the Police Activity League.

I played PAL ball for a long time and they don't fundraise on the phone. All funds are raised locally through registration fees and candy sales. Also, families pay for all the uniforms and equipment. This is not really PAL calling, so don't give them information.

Similar to other people's experiences.  We get calls from "Cal Pal" on this number and when we pick it up, the "person" on the other side immediately hangs up.  Must be some sort of strange person prank calling others, or may be a seriously crime organization trying to get an index of everyone's voices....

The facts:

California Police Activities League is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization that has been helping prevent juvenile crime for over 36 years.  Over 300,000 children are enrolled in 125 Chapters across the state of California in vital sports, educational and youth activities year round that are free.  They have little to no help from the government and rely soley on the public for contributions to keep the programs going.  We all know how bad gangs are getting in California, and it has a lot to do with the kids not having anything better to do after school (which is the peak hours for juvenile crime 3pm-7pm).  Pal is no longer with a 3rd party telemarketing company, so they do the fundraising themselves.  A larger portion of the money goes directly to the kids because of this.  The average percentage of a donation made to a charity that actually goes to the cause that has a 3rd party doing the calling for them is 15%-18%.  When you donate to California PAL, 64% of your donation goes directly to the children.  The most recent fiscal statement is available if you ask them to have it.  The old one is what is posted online from 2006 (when there was a 3rd party involved).  Also, many people are confusing California PAL with California PYC.  California Police Youth Charities is a scam.  They have been misrepresting PAL  tricking past supporters that they have merged together and PAL no longer exists.  They have even been recently caught using PAL's caller ID display with a disconnected call back number.  Do not be fooled.  They work with Telcom, a 3rd party that gets most of the profit, and little money goes to the cause.  
The calls people have been getting and there is no response at the other end is due to the automatic dialer Pal is using.  There could be a delay once you answer the phone with when you are connected to the representative.  If you don't give the dialer the opportunity to connect and just hang up, it will automatically code it as a call back.  Thats how all automatic dialers work.  If you really want to be taken off the list, simply wait a few extra moments to be connected and tell them politely not to call.  People are stressing over a phone call, when if handled appropriately can be an easy issue to resolve.  

Just remember, the inconvenience it may have caused you is minor compared to what could help prevent youth violence.  It saves childrens lives everyday.  People need to be more informed of that.

Called 18006calpal and asked to be removed from list.  Woman responded very politely and promised to have that done.  That was last week and havent got a call since.  Thank you
