They called us pretending to be the fire department.   My husband answered the phone call.  Scammers.   I searched and reads Dish Network.

Had call from MIKE DAVIS, soliciting for FIRE FIGHTERS AND EMS Services.... i asked a couple questions rudely trying to see if he was a recording and HE WAS. Scary thing is- he replys to questions that are probably common questions like "who is this" "im sorry who is this again" "where are you from" . I rudely asked all of these questions and "he" responded with pretty spot on replies. I noticed a slight delay as well as when i asked if this was a recording the line disconnected. Be Kind to people, were all just trying to figure out how to live, NOT JUST SURVIVE! but KNOW there are energies out there who are here to do EVIL. Stay Alert! Stay Safe!

Called about firefighters fund- was a scam. Hung up. Phone detected the call was from seal beach.

They called, I picked up but made no sound.  It eventually hung up; I didn't give it a voice cue for a machine to pickup.  It's clearly yet another scam caller.

Whitepages says it's owned by "Dish Satellite TV" but who knows if that's correct.  Various other sites have also flagged this as a scammer.

Most likely true, but doesn't mean the number isn't getting spoofed-could go either way

Caller ID says Dish Satellite TV. My number is listed on the Do Not Call registry. As if that means anything.

Scam! Same as other people this is an attempt during wild fires to scam people

Received a call but declined it. Super sick of these robo-callers!

Said he was Mike Davis from Firefighters fund doing their annual benefit drive. I said I already donated through TV drive for fire victims. Multiple warnings from real firefighter assoc that they will not call asking for money

Scammer using a spoofed number

The number belongs to a dish satelite company out of Long Beach. I can't believe they would call on a Sunday! Doesn't anyone rest anymore?

Cell CID was Seal Beach, CA.  No message left.  I haven't had scammer calls on a weekend in a LONG time.  I guess they have to put in over time now since people are getting wiser and not taking their calls

Said they were raising donations for the firefighters. I asked where I could physically go to donate, and they said they could only take donations over the phone.

I had a suspicion it was some kind of recording because the pauses seemed very unnatural.

Called and I answered asked for money for firefighters organization. I said what organization for what county ? He said it’s a national organization kept asking questions and they hung up. So sad people are trying to scam you using the Wildfires.

Claims to be Firefighters EMS Fund - no such organization listed on CharityNavigator.org

Uses a clever automated system, but the second or two lag in responding is a giveaway. You can trick it into repeating itself if you ask "him" to state the name of his organization again and it'll repeat exactly the same identification, including "is that ok?"
