Received official sounding call stating they were from IRS.  The message advised not to disregard the call to prevent them taking action against me.  Called back and left message.  Will update here if they call back.

Caller saying we owe IRS and will be fined, jailed and lose everything we have. Sure makes you thing, but we have our taxes done by proffessional company. They say they have nothing to do with it, it is all on us. Scammmm

I got that call on 12/1/14 from a guy asking to call him back and that it has to do with a very secretive and dangerous something bla bla bla....he asked me for my phone number.  I was stupid enough and scared that something has happened and I gave him my number.  He hanged up on me

Do consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $50.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.

Call from 585-364-6540..Bogus IRS call.  DO NOT RETURN this call.  It was a recorded message from "Julie Smith at the IRS" saying that I must return the call  to avoid being prosecuted.

This is not the way the IRS does business

the IRS always, repeat, always sends a letter.  then you call them back.  they never call you first.  they even ask permission to call you back if they need to after you call them.  
this call is not just a prank as some have stated.  it is a phishing call to get your information so they can do identity theft.  do NOT call them back, unless you are bored and just want to screw with them.....sometimes that is a hoot.....
but it is a serious scam trying to scare people into giving personal information to be used against them.

call them, give them bogus info, keep them on the phone, really mess with them, then laugh at them and hang up.

This number just left message saying this is the IRS and us or our attorney of record needs to call back immediately.  I called back and a dirt bag human answered.  I mentioned I was reporting this scam to the authorities.  This kind of crap really irritates me.

They called and left a vm stating they were the IRS... when i called back the line rang and disconnected.... SCAM!!!!! I don't even owe any taxes

Called and left their terrible automated message.  I called back three times.  The first two time they disconnected my call after about 2 rings.  The third time it rang and I got a voice mail stating just to leave a message.  Obviously not IRS.  Total scam.

I got the call tonight too! Said I needed to pay $2445.00 or face penalties. I simply asked him to certify my s.s. # and birth date. He said he could not due to " it was a recorded line". RED FLAG!!!! He told me my local law officers would be at my house in an hour to seize my assets. I told him to save the call, that I was doing it for him.  I called my law officers and reported the SCAM!!!!!!!! Of course I called the "IRS" guy a few choice names before I hung up and told him that his game was over!

Received a voice message from a woman.  Gist of the message was that the information was "con-sensitive" and that they would "retain an attorney of record".  The woman said her name - I only caught the last name as Smith and said we should call 585-364-6540 and that she was with the IRS.  Obviously a scam and we will NOT respond.  Hope they don't call again!!

Today is 12/9/2014 and I just got the call!  So they didn't change the number.  It was a recorded voice "Officer Julie Smith" saying I owe the IRS money.  No, I do not.  And she did not leave an ID number, which they have to do if you are in contact with them.  I would say this is a Scam.  Please read the below from the IRS website;

These callers may demand money or may say you have a refund due and try to trick you into sharing private information. These con artists can sound convincing when they call. They may know a lot about you, and they usually alter the caller ID to make it look like the IRS is calling. They use fake names and bogus IRS identification badge numbers. If you don’t answer, they often leave an “urgent” callback request.
“These telephone scams are being seen in every part of the country, and we urge people not to be deceived by these threatening phone calls,” IRS Commissioner John Koskinen said. “We have formal processes in place for people with tax issues. The IRS respects taxpayer rights, and these angry, shake-down calls are not how we do business.”
The IRS reminds people that they can know pretty easily when a supposed IRS caller is a fake. Here are five things the scammers often do but the IRS will not do. Any one of these five things is a tell-tale sign of a scam.
The IRS will never:
1.  Call to demand immediate payment, nor will we call about taxes owed without first having mailed you a bill..

2.  Demand that you pay taxes without giving you the opportunity to question or appeal the amount they say you owe.

3.  Require you to use a specific payment method for your taxes, such as a prepaid debit card.

4.  Ask for credit or debit card numbers over the phone.

5.  Threaten to bring in local police or other law-enforcement groups to have you arrested for not paying.

If you get a phone call from someone claiming to be from the IRS and asking for money, here’s what you should do:
If you know you owe taxes or think you might owe, call the IRS at 1.800.829.1040. The IRS workers can help you with a payment issue.

If you know you don’t owe taxes or have no reason to believe that you do, report the incident to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA) at 1.800.366.4484 or at www.tigta.gov.

You can file a complaint using the FTC Complaint Assistant; choose “Other” and then “Imposter Scams.” If the complaint involves someone impersonating the IRS, include the words “IRS Telephone Scam” in the notes.
Remember, too, the IRS does not use unsolicited email, text messages or any social media to discuss your personal tax issue. For more information on reporting tax scams, go to www.irs.gov and type “scam” in the search box.

Received an IRS recoreded call - bogus scumbags. The authorities are doing nothing about these overseas callers. Whenever I get a live person, I really let them have it - so should you all - do not be afraid of these idiots!

They left a recorded message;  "The issue at hand is extremely time sensitive. My officer Julie Smith from Internal Revenue Service and the hotline to my division is 5853646540. I repeat it's 5853646540. Don't disregard this message and do return the call before we take any action against you. Goodbye and take care"

The voicemail message left from (585) 364-6540 sounds fake, in a fake female robot voice "This is the IRS, contact us at (585) 364-6540 or we will take action against you. Do not disregard this phone call. Contact the IRS at (585) 364-6540."

This phone call is from New York, I live in Nevada. I do not owe the IRS any money. I have dealt with them before, they ALWAYS send a notice via snail mail if you owe them any money.

I called back and they answered and stated that it was the Office of the IRS. He said his name was Jeff Martin, he has an Indian accent. I told him I was surprised that his name was Jeff Martin with such an Indian accent. He refused to give me his office address. I told him he was a douchbag and not to call back!
