          Same message as above officer Julie Smith and so on.  What really ticked me off was the fact that I had to get out of bed to answer .  Looks like even scammers could  be just a little more considerate and time their calls better.  Also find it  sort of disturbing that the call is somewhat menacing, both in tone and content.

Bogus IRS call. Left a message, the same above mentioned message in the post.

Got a call today with the same message on my voicemail. Tried calling back and was repeatedly hung up on. Scammers.

Got a call from  Officer Julie Smith from this number, she states she is an officer with the IRS,  the IRS usually hires people who speak clear English, guess they have lowered their standards.  It has been reported  as a bogus call, and comes from New York area, and our IRS is not in New York area.............plan on reporting the call to the police.

Total scam.  Originates in either India or Pakistan.

IRS does not file lawsuits.   Court action, if any is handled by the DOJ and all parties are entitled to legal assistance if it is a criminal matter.  But--tax disputes are for the most part civil matters.  90% of all IRS tax disputes are settled administratively.  IRS has absolutely no authority to call on local law enforcement for anything. Local law is never involved in IRS tax disputes.   If LE is necessary, US Marshals do the job.  IRS does not cold call anyone and ask for money. No one is prosecuted for ordinary tax disputes.  All determinations of tax liability are subject to appeals.  All  contacts by the IRS are initiated by US mail.

I got a broken up recorded message that was hard to understand. Told me I was going to be prosecuted but did not say why. Just said to call back immediately. Of course I didn't. Glad I did a search first and found this site.

Today we received the same call, but he told me that I need to buy 3 gift card of 20 of 500 and one with 60. It was weird when I said i want to paid with me debit card and they said no only with gift card. Please becareful with this people if you can call then people, the number was 585-364-6540 and 1-800-829-

Same recording as heard by the rest of these folks: Julie Smith, from the "IRS" with a British accent gave me this "hotline" number to call before they "take action"  against us.  We were "not to disregard this message" and to "take care!"  Hilarious to us but gullible folks could be easily duped.

my elderly mother got a message today 1/7/15. the caller claimed to be "julie smith" from the irs. she called the number. a man with an accent answered "internal revenue service". he screamed at her saying he had her tax records and she was in a lot of trouble. every other word out of his mouth was "mother f..."! i called the number. i let him have it for upsetting her. he said it was a mistake-they were looking for someone else. i never identified my mother by name, he kept on saying he called her by mistake. i told him i knew he was not with the irs. he assured me he was. i asked him over and over why he he kept calling her the ugly name during their call? he said it was none of my concern-the call wasn't meant for her. soon after, he just hung up on me.

Received scam call from 585-364-6540. The recorded female voice said 'calling from IRS' and asked to call the number nack. Why can't the government take some action to round these guys up?

I just got the same message as all of you. Played a recording stating they are the IRS. Bogus IRS. Be aware!  SCAM!!!!

These scumbags called my mother and nearly scared her to death.  She immediately called me.  I told her not to worry; that it was a scam.  

I received the same message.  A lady answered and she was not very polite.  I wonder if she has received a million calls today.

Automated message identifying herself as Julie Smith from IRS asking me to call back.  I guess it is a scam.
