- john stewartThese calls start out as a robocall, then, if you stay on the line, or press 1, or whatever, the next voice you hear will have an accent so thick you can hardly understand them. Here's some facts - from a retired "problem solver" with Federal law enforcement. Nobody can legally "monitor" your accounts - generally speaking (unless you are engaged in some criminal activity, or are a suspect, or a fugitive). NONE of these credit card issuers/pirates will voluntarily agree to reduce or eliminate your interest rate(s). Why should they? Why would they - they're making billions from this barely legal/almost scam. Who would simply agree to give that up? (hint - nobody). According to a report from Consumer Reports, once these scammers have your credit card information, they can do whatever they want with your money (of course). On average, they will steal approximately $2,000.00 from your accounts !! They MAY go through the charade of making a few polite calls to your creditors, asking them to stop charging you interest - but even that is unlikely (they'll probably just lie about that, too). Even if they do that, the credit issuers will just tell them to "pound sand". Now, comes the "sucker dump" - where the scammers just get rid of you. By now, you (hopefully) learned a $2,000.00 lesson, and, in addition, you have to go through the hassle of having to cancel/re-issue all of your accounts. The easiest way to avoid this traumatic loss is to simply NOT participate in this scam. The "system" depends on the willingness of its' victims - refuse to be one!!
- Caller: interest reduction scam
- Call type: Telemarketer
- AlbertCall rejected by call blocker. Must be they tried to call me before. :-)
- Caller: Scammer
- N.A.Called landline. CID displayed CONSMR ADVOCATE. No message left with contact information. This is NOT a telemarketer calling. This is a call from a CRIMINAL trying to perpetrate a scam and violating the DNC. We NEVER answer ANY unsolicited call. Why people call back these numbers they do not recognize baffles me. If they don't leave a message the call is not important and most likely a SCAM.
- Caller: NOT a telemarketer/ SCAM
