they called my cell phone ... again.

Once upon a time YEARS AGO when I was self-employed, I signed up for some free IT industry mags through bizmag.

It's those dang free magazine folks BEGGING me to renew my FREE subscription for Baseline / Network / InfoWorld / eWeek -- whichever one this week -- they just need to verify the size / income / number of employees / mailing address for my company; what my job title is / what purchasing decisions I make / etc. etc. ad nauseum, *HEAVY* on the nauseum.

I'm NOT self-employed NOW, not even making my living on a computer any more (YAY!), so I'm NOT really interested in killing any unnecessary trees.  I wish they would quit calling.  I've already told them a number of times that [I like trees and will just read the articles on their websites when interested, so please don't kill any more trees in my name.]

Because the bulk of their income comes from ads -- they need to print more thousands of copies so that they can charge higher rates for their ads -- yes, they NEED to spend money mailing free magazines to MAKE money.

Yeah, I do have several trade publication magazines.
When I can answer the phone, they're actually very nice and courteous to deal with when you renew your subscription.
    They also work very fast.

    One of the same...
    RL,

Thanks for your comments.  I am also registered to receive Baseline and Eweek Mag's.  I renewed my subscription to Eweek, but not Baseline - so that's what they are likely trying to hound me about.  Not the end of the world, but am happy to have an idea of who is trying to SPAM call me.

Said she was from some sort of "professional" magazine & wanted to update our company's info. Asked for the owner by name (not hard to do-public info). Told her we do not give out that information over the phone. She didn't say anything about charity, soo.... Anyway, telling them we don't give out company info over the phone works great. Got that tip on this site. Keeps them from charging us for a service we never signed up for. Best thing I ever did! Thanks all!

Is there no way to stop these calls.  This is becoming rather a problem.  I have never been able to talk with them and when I call them back they go into this statement about Lester, Inc. calling for another client.  Can this be stopped.  Where is our protection against this type of intrusion.  Freedom of speech whould not allow for harrasement thought phone calls.

Don't know how you got this info but it is wrong. That is not the phone number for Members Choice Credit Union. I work there.

They call my cell phone every day, at least once.  They never leave any kind of message.  I found the address of the company and will be firing them off a cease and desist order this afternoon.

I just followed up a little further on a call I received today from 606-833-0105. I tried to find out who it was through a reverse phone directory, but ran into a road block. I found your website accidentally by putting the phone number directly into the browser address block. I then found that other people have had phone calls from the same number. I saw that the number seems to be associated with a company by the name of Lester, Inc. I found that they do exist and that they are an advertising company. They also have a phone number to their corp head quarters in Kentucky. That number is 606-833-0102. I sent them an email to see if they could track down on what is happening and stop it.

Just got it today. Did not answer. I don't answer any area code I don't recognize. Also, I have select friends who actually know my cellular number and they're all in my contact list.
