- DougThis Company calls me every day 2 -3 times a day. The person they are looking for does not live here. I have called them back and told them three times now but they still call. Now when the answering machine picks up they hang up and if I answer the phone they hang up. This person they are looking for is never going to answer the phone they don't live here. I told them I have no phone number to give them for the person they are looking for and they told me they didn't believe me. The woman said you have the same last name you must know this person. This has been going on for 4 months now how can I get this to stop?

- BigA replies to Danielle SheehanThis appears to be an alleged debt collector. Since they talked to you, that is certainly considered first contact. They are now required by law to do the following, and if they do not, then you can be assured they are crooks:
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

They handle Woman Within and Full Beauty accounts. Apparently I owed almost $1000 to these two places. (I have never had an account with either) After speaking with the “gentleman” and being threatened by him for refusing to give him my personal information, I received another call from this number that supposedly covers Lane Bryant and Victoria’s Secret. However, I decided to call and speak with a person at Full Beauty. She looked for an account and was very confused as to why I was checking because I did not have any account. She also said that Comenity owns all of the above mentioned accounts. I suggest that if you do own an account they are calling about, you call the company directly to clarify any account business. It is so easy to clone the number and get your information from you. Then you really will be in trouble!

- Marie R replies to bjI agree 1000%. A very rude young man just called my Mother's cell and when noted that my mother was unavailable and that I could take a message, this person said in a very rude tone, well, if I don't speak with her or her lawyer, I will take further action. He kept saying, I thought I was getting her cell, but clearly she doesn't carry it around with her all the time, so, if she is not available and her lawyer isnt around, then I will move forward.
I told him to do what he needed to do, change his attitude and I hung up. - DianaComenity Bank Collectors- blocked and DONE. Never answer calls from numbers you don’t know, people!
