Looking to collect a debt. I called back and told them they had the wrong number. They removed me from the list. Have not gotten call back since.

This number comes up and they are trying to find out who is handling my husband's final affairs.  I won't give them any information until they tell me why they're calling and they refuse, so I refuse.  I am assuming this is a debt collector, but I am unaware of any outstanding debt my husband has, so that is part of why I won't say anything.

Has called me once a day for the past couple of days. Haven't answered them and they don't leave a message.  According to the multiple descriptions of who they, they're likely calling about my mom who passed a few years ago. I know its a scam because a)my mother NEVER put my name or my sister's name on any of her accounts, including credit cards and bank accounts and b) my mother had no will or estate.

Don't plan on answering them and have no obligation to.

I had a strange number on my phone with no message so I called it back to see who it was. A lady answered "State Agency" and when I asked what type of agency they were she would not identify it and sent me to a voice mail. This voice mail only identified a person and not who they worked for (i.e: most places say their name along with an agency on their voice mail). Not sure if this is a collection agency or a telemarketer.

They are  a debt collection company known as "Estate Information Services." They prey on relatives of deceased people who may or may not have died with unpaid accounts to banks, mortgage companies, what have you. Carrion eaters of the American financial sector. Acknowledging their calls is always the wrong move. Block their number whenever possible.

Said it was a state info service. Looking for a Glenn Julian. I have had other companies call for this name claiming they either had money for him or a warrent for him. When I told these people that I am not him and where did they get the #, caller said from Internet. When I said that was a bold face lie as I have had this number for over 4 years, she hung up on me. I called back and got switchboard and after repeating same give and take, she hung up too. I've worked CSR and collections for legitimate ops. I have no idea what these people are in biz to do except waste electricity."State Agency"

Got a call from them with a message that are looking for the person handling the estate of my brother-in-law who passed away.  Don't know how they got our # as we have nothing to do with that.  Returned the call the first time and told them we are not involved in anything to do with his affairs.  Its just strange that with all the people with the same last name in our area they call us.  None of the rest of family gets a call.  they called again today and am NOT returning their call.

Called and left  a message about my fathers estate. Needed to talk to someone about his estate. Has to be a scam. He died over ten years ago and had no debts. I never called them back.

I have received various calls from this number. They leave a message stating they are with the IRS Collections and give a number to call back and a case number. I guess they thought I was born under a cabbage because for one the number comes up Estate Information Services not IRS and second the IRS don't call you they send you collection letters and then show up at your house. I have saved the message of who they are claiming to be. It seems there would be a law against them using the Federal Governments name in trying to collect any debt. Anyone know who this can be reported to. I actually tried to call them back and the number they give is a different number than what is left on the caller ID. When calling back it does answer IRS Collections but says there office is closed and gives the hours but when I call it is during them hours when they are suppose to be open. I key in the extension they gave me and all I get is a voice mail. I refuse to call them back anymore.

File complaints withe FBI,State Attorney Generals office, ftc and fcc!  Of course it might also be nice to call the IRS, the real IRS and tell them also!  I doubt it will be the first call they get in regards to that, but the more information they can put together - the more they have to go on to maybe close the noose around their necks and bust them.

Called asking about my husbands grandfather...weird. Apologized if she had the wrong number and after I told her I have nothing to do with them and have no info she apologized again, said she was sorry for our loss and that was that. I knew it was some scam and I hope they do not call back. Just wondering how they got my cell # as I am still listed in my maiden name.

Receive a call today asking who is handled my father in laws estate. How weird. He does not even live in this state and never did. And why would they call me  I have nothing to do with it   how they get my number?

Received a call from this number on my cell phone today and they left a voice mail. In the message, the caller said she was calling from State Information Services. She left an 877 number, an extension, and a reference number. I called the 877 number and found it was not in service. Googled the 877 number and found nothing. Called back the 614 number (which was on my cell phone) and got in touch with the woman who left the message. She said she needed to speak with the individual handling my father-in-law's estate and asked if I was that person (so she obviously didn't know who was). I asked what it was regarding and she told me, "a business matter." When I told her I didn't know who the executor was, she asked me to try and find out and pass her information along. Then I Googled the 614 number and found what I figured all along, that it's a scam. How pathetic! Still not sure how they got my name and number, since I'm not listed on anything other than the obituary.

Called and left mesage as state information services so I called back and they asked to hold on I hung up before they could transfer. I thought they maybe charging me a rediculious amount of money to hold. I have heard of this scam before. Look at these post maybe a collection agent or a good scam.

have received 2 to 4 calls a day from "estate information" every since my husband die last year.  When I would not answer they called my daughters cell phone. Would not tell her what it was all about. When I googled the number and read all the reports listed I know I will not answer the calls.

I just got a call from this number.  They left a message stating they are "Estate Information Services" looking for the person responsible for the estate of my very recently departed Mother.  How can these people makes these calls when people are still grieving.  Heartless :-(

Got a call on Friday no one there on the other line.

They called and asked who handled the estate of the shop owner.  I told them it was the public administrator, and asked what they had to do..... they said that someone had hired them to find out about the estate.  They did not even call the public administrator to find out, even though they knew previously that it had been sent to that office.  Told them we were not at liberty to give any info (it is still in the probate process),  that was the job of the public administrator and they asked where to find that information, and when I told them to call the state for this county.... they hung up!

Never answer the question, "Who is handling the estate of John Doe?"  If the caller doesn't know, it's none of their business.
