Only wanted to talk to my wife, said she would call back - click.

"DO NOT CALL LIST" only applies to commercial telemarketers, not political, issues or charitable organizations.

They call everyday and ask for my husband, despite my insisting that they stop. They will not talk to me. My husband always votes Republican, I generally vote Independant and assume it has something to do with our party affiliation.

My call said "Blocked name", so I listened for the answering machine to give a clue.  Instead, they hung up, so I'm glad to see the comments here.

Repeated calls during day and evening with no message left on vm.    Wish they would stop calling

The caller says nothing once the call is answered and then hangs-up.

They keep calling, I answer, they hang-up! They keep calling, I dont answer, they hang-up! What kind of scam is this?????

Called 3 times within the last three days, hangs up as soon as I answer.

If you call the number back and listen to the information about Fred Thompson, at the end you can remove your number from the lsut.

Called we did not pick in Anchorage, AK.  They did not leave a messeage.

I have been getting phone calls from this number everyday for several weeks.

I believ that 615 area code is from Nashville, Tennessee.

Several calls showing up on my parents' land-line phone.

I got a call from them at 8:00 this morning.  Don't they care what time it is???  When I said hello no one said anything so I just hung up.  Strange!

Once the answering machine picks up it's their dime not mine.

1.  Politicians and charities are exempt from the Do Not Call List
2.  If you have done business with a company within the past year they are also exempt from calling you to try and sell you more stuff until that year is up.  9 months in some states.
3.  They aren't actually hanging up on you.  An automated system is hanging up.  In order to get as many people as they can (politicians, telemarketers, and charities) they have a system that calls 10 to 12 numbers at the same time.  The first number to pick up they talk to and their system then hangs up all the other numbers so they don't get all the long distance charges.  It saves them money.

There is a rule that still exists that you do not have to be on a Do Not Call List for.  No telemarketer, politician, charity is allowed to call you before 9:00 AM YOUR TIME ZONE or after 9:00 PM.  If they do you can bust them and they can be heavily fined for not following this rule.  Just thought you should know.
