Got the same phone call like everyone else here. Asked for my last 4 digits of my s.s.  Asked me if I have received court papers yet?  Told me where I lived. I could not make out what he was saying so I asked him to repeat himself and he hung up on me.

I got this same message today (restraining order, appear in court. have my attorney call etc.). I called it back and was transferred to Litigations. They (Jason) said that I had a line of credit with a bank that i have never heard of that has a remaining balance. Then they said it was a Pay Day Loan Cash Advance. The balance is around 600 bucks and the settlement amount is around 400. Apparently I received this loan back in 2007. I said that I wasn’t familiar with this loan and asked for more information about the loan or company and they wouldn’t provide it. They knew my full Social Security Number and my Home Address which I didn’t live in back in 2007. They also called my Dads house which is a number that I have never given out (cause I don’t know it without looking it up) but they said it was a reference. I kept asking for morw information. They said that if I agreed to the debt they would transfer me to the audit department for payment and they would email or mail me documentation on the loan. When I said I didn’t know what they were referring to he said they would move the case and I would receive a sopena to go to court. I asked if I could go home and do some research he said that I had 24-48 hours to call them back. So, I asked when would that be? 24-48 is a large range. 7:00 tomorrow night.

After I hung up, I pulled a credit report and didn’t see anything from said bank. I Googeled it and didn’t find anything. I thought maybe i missunderstood so I found a bank that sounded similar so I called them, told them the story and asked if they had a record of me which they didnt but said maybe it is through their sister company in Texas or California and gave me a number. I called it up they weren’t able to pull any history on me.  Which I wasn’t surprised since I’ve never heard of them!

There are other blogs that have this similar story from people who posted within the past week. These guys are busy busy! I'm headed to submit a police report and find out what I should do next since they have ALL of my information  :(

Have gotten numerous calls from this number all saying the same thing. (Automated recording) Calling me by my maiden name (I've been married 10 years & haven't used my maiden name at all during this time) saying they "are with the civil investigations unit calling about a complain filed. I'm a respondent in a court action and to forward to my attorney because the order to show cause contains a restraining order. I have 24-48 hours to respond, good luck." I've never bothered to call back but seeing everyone's comments are the same I'm glad I didn't!

these people called me to inform me that I have a lawsuit against me with a bank from several years ago.  The man was rude and hateful.  They did not have the right name at all.  It was very frightening.

My father received the exact duplicate message from this phone number, stating that he is the respondent in a civil action where a restraining order was taken out against him, and said to call this number back with an "Affidavit" claim number.  He was extremely upset, so that's why he called me because I'm a paralegal for a law firm in RI.  I called them back and was directed to a voicemail system which stated that I couldn't leave a message because the voicemessage box was full.  I called again and tried another prompt, which then put me on hold for approximately 5 minutes before a man abruptly came on the line and only said "can I help you?"  I told him I was calling from our law firm in regards to a message that one of our clients received and was instructed to call back.  He then began SCREAMING at me that I had no right to call him and that the person who got the message should call, and when I repeated who I was again and that we represent the client that his "company" called, he became even more irate and stated that I "should know better than to ask for information that doesn't pertain to you," and that he didn't care that I was a paralegal because "everyone in the United States is a paralegal."  He kept asking me for a bar number, so when I told him that I could give him the attorney's bar number, he said that it wasn't good enough and that he needed my bar number.  I told him that only attorney's have bar numbers and paralegals don't, he said "see, that's why I ain't going to give you no information because you don't have a bar number."  I calmly stated that he was incorrect and asked why he was yelling at me and what his name was, he said "you don't need to know that, and I don't need to deal with you right now. Call back Monday."  I couldn't respond before he hung up the phone on me.  I deal with restraining orders everyday at my job and know that in order for anybody to have a restraining order placed against them, there first has to be a complaint entered with the court system in their state or district, then the complaint gets heard before a Judge, he signs it and assigns a hearing date, the defendant is served by a constable or sheriff, and everybody goes to court on the hearing date to either extend or terminate the order.  I knew right away when I listened to the message that this was some kind of recorded message, and that stating over the phone that a restraining order was taken out instead of having the person served was completely unlawful.  I told my father that if this person calls back, to either not answer the phone or tell him to call his attorney, and if there is any adversarial rebuttal, to hang up immediately and call me.  I'm also going to forward this information to the FBI office here in RI as well as the RI Attorney General's office.  I don't know if anyone else in RI has gotten this phone call, which seems to be at random, but I'm going to report it regardless because it only takes one unsuspecting person to give this maniac their date of birth and social security number, and when combined with their name and address will give them the perfect situation to steal an identity.

I got the same call; same information was given to me.  Is there anything that can be done or is no reply the best response?

I called him back and the voice was going in and out. He told me I didn't have to yell and that I am not suppose to tell him not to call but be polite and just ask to be taken off their list. He tried to tell me how to talk. He harrasses me twice a day and he has the nerve to tell me how to talk. I was suppose to use the words he told me. I am a grown woman and don't need this harassement.

Just received  2 phone calls from the above number-my landline and my cell. Both calls implied that I was a criminal and would be served papers in the next 24-48 hrs and to have my attorney respond within 24-72 hrs.No one would give me an address . When they answered -all it said was "Central processing" I did manage to get a name 'Mr Phillips' and said the "courts" had been looking for me since 2008. I Laughed.  He mentioned a credit card of 11 [eleven yrs ago] when I had terminal cancer  and disability ins .

I just received the same call, but they were asking for the guy who had my number before me.  I've received similar calls before, so I completely ignore them.  The guy who's number I was unlucky enough to be issued is obviously still using my number for all his nefarious deeds, because I have been getting calls from all kinds of companies and legal offices for nearly two years now.  If they have personal information, it's obviously his, so I'm not about to lose any sleep over it.

On a whim, I checked my 12 yr old daughter's voice mail last night and found this message on there twice. She has been taught not to answer any number she does not recognize. All the same info as stated in all of these posts. Called my local PD and they said I can either call the number back and try to get more info from them or just ignore it. I am a little nervous about the whole situation because they are calling her and not her parents.

Same as the rest. Told me a civil case has been filed and gave a case reference number. Told me to call 617-600-4177, and to contact my lawyer and appear in 24 to 48 hours and that a restraining order has been filed against me.

My brother in law who lives in Chicago, called my husband today.. We live in Colorado.. Said he got a weird phone call saying we owed $29,000 on 2 credit cards.. They wanted the money from them.. We don't even have any credit cards!!! The guy on the phone told my brother in law that if he paid them $1,000 then they could settle out of court.. I called the number (617-600-4177)  was given 4 options to choose from, there wasn't one for customer service so i just hit #2.. I got connected to a guy, he asked for the case number, gave it to him. He asked if i was so & so. I said excuse me, thinking i heard him wrong? He said are you so & so? I said no sir i am not.. He hung up.. There was a ton of background noise of other people talking, laughing, whatever.. Talkin about stirring up some family drama! OMG!!! It screams SCAM people!!!!
