- AmyCarpet Cleaning in MA. Filed complaint with the FTC (who is in charge of the do not call list, not the FCC).
- sickofthiswe just got the call - didn't pick up but plugged the number into google and got this web site
- ChrisYou can trace this phone # to Conversent Communications, owned by One Communications. I would file a DNC complaint with FCC.

- JDOGReceived a call on July 28th from these people. I am on the do not call list and still received this call. I don't live anywhere near Boston. I reported it to the FCC.
- WendyI just got the call from this number. I did not pick up. To my surprise my phone alerted to a VM! It was a carpet cleaning business automated call. I did not listen to the message, just hung up and deleted it. I am also on the Do Not Call list but have discovered it isn't helping. So now when I get a call from telemarketers I add them to my Call Reject list on my phone. I wish I could set up my phone to only accept numbers in its phonebook but no such luck. Eventually, I'm sure half my storage will be REJECT numbers and I'll have to delete some, but for now it's preventing repeat annoyances!

- PeteI received a call from this number out of the blue. The only option provided was to press "1" to schedule an appointment. Based on a remark here, I called the number back and was offered to be entered onto their do-not-call list. I'm already on the national do-not-call list. This defeats the purpose.

- Kate replies to C.Just Got a Call - Boston, MA
- SamJust got this call an hour ago. Thought it was a friend from Boston calling on a different phone but was this number. When searching the number I thought I wouldn't find out but it's good to know that other people are getting this call as well. I'm in the Chicago area, didn't pick up, :01 voicemail was left, silent. So weird.
- Kevin| 1 replyJust got a call on my cell phone (847). Carpet cleaner ad, says press 1 to schedule an appointment, press 8 to be removed from the list.
- Kevin replies to KevinChicago area as well.
- Anonymi got the call too. same details as everyone else. already on the do not call list.
My plan henceforth is to give them all death threats if they call again. I know its illegal to make death threats but if they report me and they try to bring charges, they will have to reveal their own identity, and then maybe the feds can bust them.- Caller: carpet steaming

- DNC List PersonI just got a call from this number. It rang but no one was there. Very creepy. I checked on-line and found this site. Why doesn't the government do something about this sort of abuse? I put my name on the DNC list just for this reason. I'm sick of these scammers. I got an e-mail on my phone that charged me $9.99 for two months - just beccause I opened it! Where is our "government"? (the phone company dropped the cost).
- Caller: Unknown
- DNC List PersonCould it be that the scam here is to get active cell phone numbers in Chicago? They have a program that dials all possible phone numbers in 847. If you call back, then they know they have a real cell phone in Chicago. May not be illegal but it is slimy. I didn't call back.
- Caller: ???
- DNC List PersonMaybe the "carpet cleaning" service is an inside joke - taken from the sci-fi movie "The 12 Monkeys". As I recall, he is supposed to leave a message with a carpet cleaning service. Of course, it doesn't matter what the business is - it's just a front to capture your phone number, which they then sell to list companies. My advice: Don't call them back!
- Caller: Carpet Cleaning Service
- DNC List PersonThe more I read, the more I'm convinced this is a sort of "phishing" for phone numbers. Why would a Boston company call Chicago? Why would a carpet cleaner have a "push 8 to remove" option? Too sophisticated for a carpet cleaner - but perfect for a phone number grabbing program! Beware.

- HopeI keep getting calls even thought I'm on the do not call list???????? I also live no where near Boston.
- mikerecieved a call from this number. dont know who or what it is but do not feel like getting charged huge amounts if i answer. please stop calling me
- JD replies to LeeThe reason the DNC list didn't work in this case is because merchants set up an automatic dialer calling every possible number - voice on your end (whether it be voicemail or live)activates the message they want to leave you. What's really frustrating is there was no name attached to the message except for Bob?
