    Strong Hispanic accented male answered.  Call Center Background.

    He:  Is this (my name)?
    Me:  Who's calling?
    He:  I am calling about solar products.  I am not selling anything. (How cute.  Trying to circumvent the DNC)  I just need to ask some questions to see if you qualify.  Is your address (really butchered my address)
    Me:  Keep talking
    He:  Is this a single home?  It's not an apartment or something else?
    Me:  Wouldn't you know that from the address?
    He:  No, I wouldn't.  Is this a single home?  It's not an apartment or something else?
    Me: Good luck and Good bye.  Hung up and blocked

    I am in a over 55 community so the target is probably senior citizens.  Addresses and names are part of public domain if you research real estate records so I am not impressed with that info being shared.  I am not  great verifier.

    This number keeps calling me saying his name is Richard parker. He says he is from some payday loan place.  his voice is middle eastern and when I ask him why he keeps calling me he said it's because he wants to f*** me.  I told him do not call me again and I blocked his number and then he calls from a private number.

    This is a person using Magic Jack to make these calls. Best thing to do is get a Google Voice Number when making calls to persons you do not know. You can instantly block all calls from them . I use Google voice for Craigslist , Credit Cards , Loans , Doctors Offices , anything that is not family .

    A robocall from this Big Rock, IL landline arrived today.  When the call rolled to voice mail, the caller left no message.  According to several posters, the caller has a Middle Eastern accent and may try one of several different ploys to separate you from your hard-earned money:
    *** Microsoft computer tech investigating computer "problems" needing fixing
    *** Solar energy scam
    *** Payday loan scam
    *** etc., etc., etc. ad nauseum

    The bottom line is this creep specializes in wallettechtomy -- the surgical removal of the wallet!  He's not getting mine, and he shouldn't get yours either.  DO NOT BECOME A VICTIM.  DO NOT ANSWER CALLS FROM THIS NUMBER.

    Don Davidson claiming he was from Alliance Home Security out of RI called.  Highly doubt that either his name and company are ligit. Told him that I have a Do Not Call number and that my next step is to report him to the FCC.  Looks like this number is used often for phone scamming.  It is now blocked.

    Actually, these calls are generated by a computer dialing system. A computer dials numerous numbers in numerical order, beginning with a certain area code. The numbers are randomly dialed combinations of numbers. Thousands of calls can be made per hour.  Once a specific area code has been saturated with calls another area code is used and the calls begin going through number combinations in that area code as well. Having a private number will not stop such calls.
    The number which shows on caller id is usually a spoofed number (a number entered into the computer by the caller for the purpose of hiding the true identity and location of the caller).
    These calls are most often an attempt to scam money from victims who answer these calls. This is big business for these criminals. If they were not successful, they would not continue to engage in this activity. Most of these types of calls originate outside of the United States and Canada and therefore outside the jurisdiction of law enforcement.
    Be vigilant. If you do not know who the caller is, do not answer. A legitimate caller will leave a voice mail message.

    Do not call list may work for legit businessesor bill collectots in the USA, but these nuisance calls are robocalls using huge computer banks and 99% are overseas.  The also spoof numbers, meaning they use computers to generate a look-alike number near you or fom an area code you know. NEVER answer or engage, THEn they KNOW it is a legit number and will call you constantly AND share or sell your number to other scammers. In fact, a huge percentage of those robocallers are "number fishing" and they SELL your number.

    I have been called 4 times today.  I called back and got the same message as everyone else - number not assigned yet.  I tried to block the number on Comcast.  Number can't be blocked because is doesn't exist.  I reported to FCC.

    This is a SCAM where they try to walk you through opening up your computer so they can hack it!

    I received a call from "Ron" at "Microsoft Operating System Technical Support":

    Ron:  Yes, hello this is Ron from Microsoft Operating System Technical Support {heavy accent}
    Me:  Hello Ron {my best Jessica Rabbit sexy voice}
    Ron: Hello this is Ron from Microsoft Operating System Technical Support
    Me: You said that already Ron {deep and sultry}
    Ron: We are receiving errors from your computer every time you go online is your computer turned on? {in one single, frightened, non-stop sentence}
    Me: Yes, my computer is turned on and so am I  {not breaking character but so hard not to laugh!}
    Ron: Oh my, are you a prostitute?  {gasping}
    Me: May I have your credit card number please?

    He said something in his native language (Hindi?) and I had to hang up 'cause I was laughing too hard!

    These folks are making calls to you, trying to steal from you.  They're fair game!  Mess with their minds and show 'em what we Americans are made of!  :D

    If you don't recognize the number and they don't leave a message, why in the world would you call back?  Telemarketing and phishing calls are so common these days that I can't imagine why someone would call back in this situation.  If it is an important call they will leave a message.
