- V| 1 replyThis [***] called my phone at least 12 times claiming that I was being used for loan fraud and that I could be arrested. When I told him to leave me alone he called me a bloody [***]. He then proceeds to call my work at least 10 times and ask for me. Once he called and told someone he was my husband! He never gave a business name and avoided all of my questions. He would say "please hold my supervisor want to talk to you...beep...hi yes this is officer Ron goldbloom" seriously!!!

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans
Washington, D.C.
December 07, 2010 FBI National Press Office
(202) 324-3691
The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.
According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.
The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim’s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims’ relatives, friends, and employers. - roger snyder replies to Kirstensame thing here, I called a mr. ethan brown told him to file the charges I would be waiting on my porch step for law enforcement to come and arrest me, he said do you think this is funny, I said hell yeah, you are a joke and a scam artist then gave him my paralegal barcode and he hung up on me. They have been very rude and threatening, even threatening physical harm! They say the same thing as you all are stating- that there is a criminal investigation and a law suit filed against us. They want us to go to CVS and buy a prepaid card! Crazy. So, I'm in the process of having the phone company block their number.

- Switchboard Operators replies to liz| 2 repliesIs it possible for the gov't to trace where someone is by the isp of the email address (ha ha, of course it is!)? Hope you didn't delete it. Read the other comment someone wrote with links to places like fbi where you can report it. The email address to forward spam (forward in entirety, make no changes) to the Federal Trade Commission is spam@uce.gov
