- Amber| 1 replyI received a hateful message from a Robin/Robert telling me that I needed to call him back immediately and it ended with that if I did not contact them then all he could do was pray to God for my salvation. I called back the number and spoke to a "Charles Green" telling me I was going to be arrested at 11am tomorrow for three criminal counts and that he needed to know my attorney. When I questioned him about the "criminal charges" he began to yell at me and ask me about being contacted about this before and stated "oh my god!" I advised him that he could no longer contact me on this phone number and that if he wanted to correspond to me then it would need to be writing from now on. He yelled into the phone telling me I needed a lawyer and that I was going to go to hell. Then he hung up. I haven't called them back.
- CrazymommaI also have been getting this return # from a caller who I can't understand. All I understand is that he needs my lawyers contact information. And if he doesn't get a call back all he can do is wish me luck. First off the name doesn't even sound like mine. And 2nd if I was any trouble they would have already been in touch with me threw my husbands lawyer. And I would receive written notice. Not sure what kind of scam this is but I'm not calling back that's long distance!!
- ShelbyI have gotten a call two days in a row from this number '000', and they say to call back at this number (646-580-3094). They are trying to contact a friend and wont tell me what its about. I passed the note on to her, and today they called back and yelled at me for not passing on the note. I told them i did, and they just said she needs to contact them by tomorrow in order to avoid a lawsuit, blah blah blah. I asked them to tell me what it was about and they wouldn't. When we called the number back it goes to a voicemail that cant be understood. I can barely understand this guy who says his name is 'Davey Jones'. I dont know if this is a scam or what but I am tired of this rude man.
- Caller: said it was something like 'legal and general group'
- Nissai've been receiving these types of calls for at least a year now and the crazy part is that these fools have peoples personal information. a girlfriend of mine has also received calls from these number. David Walker was the supposed name from 646-580-3094 and if my attorney didn't call back he wished me luck. I've actually forwarded an email to our local FBI office, i'm hoping they actually look at it

- Anonym| 2 repliesOk I am getting these calls from 646-580-3094 (in New York) stating that I have been charged with 3 criminal acts and that I need to go downtown by 11 AM in the morning. This man "Alan James" also keeps asking for my attorney information and not only is he calling me, he is calling my previous place of employment. He is telling the person that I used to work for that they to will be charged with the criminal charges. The man keeps trying to get me to verify my social and when I wouldn't, he became angry and said "well I don't have to tell you anything and I am going o hang up in your face" so he did and now I am ready to report these people.

Hey Guys!
The FBI is aware of this scam! The link above is from a press release sent out today (12-07-10). Apparently it's in reference to anytime you or a relative has applied for a credit card or payday loan in the past. This is why the caller has your personal information.
The Bureau simply suggests to check your credit regularly and keep an eye on your banking information as well to make sure no debits are hitting your account illegally. Read the link for additional information.
I sent an email today because I received another call so i'm not sure if my email was the last straw because of the many complaints but either way, I'm glad they've said something.
I'd suggest we keep reporting these calls to the FBI and maybe we can drive them to contact these people!- Caller: unknown
- Nissa replies to AnonymSee my note below yours. it's a scam. somehow they've gotten their hands on our personal information from a past application you may have completed for a credit card or payday loan. I reported it to the FBI today and they came out with a press release on their website as well.
- Barbarahateful and threatening call received from 646-580-3094
- Caller: Alex Jean
- CJReceived two phone calls and they left a message asking for me or for my lawyer to contact them immediately. If we chose not to return his call (Joe), "then good luck and God bless." The man spoke in very, very broken english. He stated he was calling for a Robin Burkett. The common denominator to the above reported calls is a credit card. Not sure if this means anything, but less than two weeks ago I opened a Walmart credit card.
- LynI have been on the phone with this # 646-580-3094 His name is Charles Green and Alex telling me I have 3 charges and they are coming to take me to jail tomorrow and wants my lawyer information. - KarI too just got a threatening message today from this company. I called back for the information and was spoken to very rudely to the point of sexual harrassment. I called a friend who is a local police officer and she found this site and the FBI link which I will be sending a compliant to also. After speaking with my friend I phoned this so called company back and told them that I would be contacting my local authorities about their scam and they hung up on me. It is just not right what they are doing to people and hopefully the FBI and other authorities can get them shut down and shipped back to where ever they come from....which is so not NY!

- WilliamThese guys are real scammers. I do not understand why the government officials cannot do something about all this. They have called me too many times to keep up with. They got my info from a failed payday loan application. It is sad to say but seems they have more rights than we do. DO NOT SEND THESE PEOPLE ANY MONEY. If you even think you owe them I do not think they can prosecute you via e-mails. Hope eveyone has a MERRY CHRISTMAS!

- The Saint replies to NissaThanks for the link. Here is the Press Release in its entirety:
Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans
Washington, D.C.
December 07, 2010 FBI National Press Office
(202) 324-3691
The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.
According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.
The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim’s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims’ relatives, friends, and employers.
Some fraudsters have instructed victims to fax a statement agreeing to pay a certain amount, on a specific date, via a pre-paid Visa card. The statement further declares the victim will never dispute the debt.
If you receive these calls, do not follow the caller’s instructions. Rather, you should:
Notify your banking institutions.
Contact the three major credit bureaus and request an alert be put on your file.
Contact your local law enforcement agencies if you feel you are in immediate danger.
File a complaint at www.IC3.gov.
Tips to avoid becoming a victim of this scam:
Never give your Social Security number—or personal information of any kind—over the telephone or online unless you initiate the contact.
Be suspicious of any e-mail with urgent requests for personal financial information. The e-mail may include upsetting or exciting but false statements to get you to react immediately.
Avoid filling out forms in e-mail messages that request personal information.
Ensure that your browser is up-to-date and security patches have been applied.
Check your bank, credit, and debit card statements regularly to make sure that there are no unauthorized transactions. If anything looks suspicious, contact your bank and all card issuers.
When you contact companies, use numbers provided on the back of cards or statements
