We had a break over the holidays as we did not get one robo call. Seems like even the callers took a break.
They left no message when I did not pick up the land line. I figure if it is someone I know or important
will leave a message.  From Memphis, Tn area.  Hope ya'll have a great new year!

Most probably a call from a spoofed number typical for scams. Calling back gives a busy signal or a voice message that this number is not in service.

Some of the Walk around phones has this feature with it. My Panasonic has it which is a 3 phone system with a bas phone which is the only one connected to the land line phone line. Most of the other phones like this type has this phone blocking that comes. This Panasonic allows me to even walk outside and still have contact with the main unit. Some don't have a good distance... Just wanted to add that info. You may also have this with your Land Line Phone System... Ask them or look up this information in the hand book that comes with your phone company when they install your land line... :)

It starts here in Georgia again. I received calls from these two 1/6/2015 Red Wing, MN 1-65-388-4121 and From Beverly Hills CA. 1-310-299-0255...I called them back and I get a message that these numbers do not connect... I guess these numbers are call numbers only. Was not home and they did not leave a message. :(

I was on another call, when this came across.  No voice mail message was left.  Thinking it might be business, I called back and got the USCellular standard greeting, i.e. this number is no longer in service.

Comcast allows me to block 24 numbers --up from 12 last year, which shows a major carrier realizes the problem is growing.  If your phone carrier can't do it -- amazon sells a blocker for land lines - up to 1500 numbers as I recall.
The main thing is NEVER pick up.   It tells them they have reached a live number.

Buy a call blocker on ebay. I think it was about $35. Blocks 1200 numbers. So far we have 40 or so accepted numbers and twice that in blocked numbers. ATT allows only 10 blocked numbers. Not nearly enough.

Verizon allows 12 blocked numbers. My Panasonic phones blocks 250 numbers. It also has a feature you can set to automatically block calls coming in that are listed with unavailable name.  It will not allow your phone to ring when that feature on. The do not call list is a joke and FTC should be defunded for such non service.

Illegal ROBO call says: "Medical Alert!" Says "my" name was referred by a "medical professional" and a package is ready to ship by me pressing "1".  Did so and when a person answered I told them what to do with "my package" and where to go with it, and then immediately hung up!  Tired of these calls.  Have sent correspondence to my Congressman and Senator telling them to do something about it.  The FTC is useless and a waste of money.  Have no idea what good they do with our tax money and told the Congress people exactly that!  Told them to go after the phone companies, who contrary to what they claim can do something about their networks being used for these ILLEGAL calls; however, they love the income derived from the use of their networks by these criminals!!!  D.C. needs to penalize the carriers to give them incentive to stop the ILLEGAL use of their networks by the criminal scammers/telemarketers/etc.!!!

Caller ID "Red Wing MN" ... JAN 09 at 12:42pm Eastern time. This call was blocked after the first ring on my phone by a free service available to most Internet-based VoIP phone service users(I have Time Warner). Google "No more robocalls" to get more information about NO  MO  RO  BO.

Folks, most of the "people" calling you whose number you don't recognize are probably spam-based, robo-callers. If you have your answering machine on and/or if you pick up the phone, that tells the "bad guys" that your number is valid, working number...which leads them to keep calling you and possibly even selling your number to another spammer. Yeah, they can spoof your own number and may show your name. My solution: answering machine is OFF. If I do not recognize the number (or name if given), I simply ignore the call but count the number of rings. If it rings only four (4) times, the chances are extremely good that you have been rung by some variation of the SPAM game. Try to keep from getting angry enough to pick up the phone. Eventually they figure your number is no good, etc. I had zero spammers in November & December 2014. Now only one in January. (They also called my next-door neighbor, both around 12:30 PM today--got no response at either number.)

I picked up one the new Panasonic phone systems, this one has 250 single numbers you can block plus you can blanket block out of area/private calls that have no number listed in the ID and you can block area codes. I turned off the first ring feature so the phone will not ring for a blocked number, Panasonic has a cordless system that has two hand sets all the way up to 5 with an answering machine... You need to read the descriptions for the system features when shopping for this type of phone.
