- LAURENThis is a fake computer generated number from skype or some similar service. Kids and frauds call me from it all the time. The only reason someone needs to call from a fake # is if they are up to no good.

- Angry Senior Citizen| 1 replyThis call was to refund money from TECHFIXNOW. These people took control of my computer on 12/12/2015 claiming I had a virus and it was being reported to MICROSOFT. I had to pay $299.95 for the repair. Now on 2/9/2016 I get a calling from them wanting to refund the money. They managed to get into my computer remotely just as before. They should me an error in the refund of $2500 from Chase Bank and that I needed to refund the difference. They held my computer hostage until I refunded via Money Gram. Then without warning my computer was completely locked. I figured out how to completely restore from factory settings. I had to change all my ID's and passwords with banks and credit card companies. I am in the process of reporting to the FTC and local authorities. I did, however, manage to figure out how to disable "remote control". I feel violated! I am worried that my identity was also stolen. Luckily I had enough sense to make notes of all the phone numbers they called from and continue to call from. I did not throw away the receipt for the Money Gram as they asked me to do. Somehow these people need to be caught!

- PamGot a call from 1-661-748-0240 from an Alex who said he was from TezCom and wanted to refund me back my money as could no longer honor my account. He said I had to verify my computer ID etc... to confirm I am who I say I am to refund me my money. I said no I would check it out and call him back.He gave me # 415-643-5236 to call him back. Yeah right. I contacted TezCom and they verified it was a scam. I have had many of these calls. TezCom has done a legit good job for me and I don't know who these scammers are or how they got my # and knew I had TezCom. I figure they wanted to access my computer to hack into everything. BEWARE PEOPLE!
- Caller: said they were from TezCom

- Fraud investagtor replies to Angry Senior CitizenPlease submit a case to the FTC. Also file a police report and notify the credit bureaus and put a Fraud alert on your credit reports. I would check with Social Security Admin to make sure these crooks didn't open a request to create a new SS# and or SS benefits claim . Check with Banks to make sure no accounts are opened in your name . When bank accounts are opened credit checks are not done so if the thrives have enough of your personal ID , they simply can open bank accounts in your name to launder money through it . Then when the account goes bad , unfortunately it goes against you . Sad , I know , but true . Be sure to check all your public records with a legitimate site such as LexisNexis etc. if these guys socially engineered your public records ( address, phone #, ) then you could be in a heap of trouble . These guys can file taxes in your name , place stolen funds in various accounts then by the time it's caught , be gone with the money ! Please be proactive and educate yourself on prevention and damage control. Sadly these fraudsters prey on the young and elderly since this generation is somewhat naive . Don't ever give anyone personal information/ bank info unless you intimate it . Also please don't ever let anyone into your computer . Research a company before you do business with them . Always ensure you have a trusted source when doing business . Lastly - a legit person/company will never come to you asking for bank account info or money of any kind. I've been in fraud for 15 years . I see too many cases like this daily . Our best defense is having individuals educate themselves ! Best wishes to your Scam clean up efforts. I know the feeling of having ones privacy invaided & it's gut wrenching .
- Fraud Investagator replies to L from VAPlease be sure to deactivate any in used e-mail accounts, credit cards, bank accounts, store cards( pay pal , Sears, Amazon etc) unless you monitor these accounts daily / weekly / monthly . Legally you only have 60-90 days to report fraudulent charges, after the time frame is up , you are out the money if you catch it to late .

- TGReceived a Call displayed as Private Caller. The Male caller has very heavy Indian Accent. I told him not to call again. But he played nasty and repeated 6 calls in 3 minutes. I checked with my phone provider, who identified the Private Caller as 661-748-0240 using software to display as Private Caller. Beware of this scam.
- BenEva called me from private number saying she worked for a vacation rental company that could guarantee me 6 bookings over a year if I paid $200. Sounded too good to be true but I was about to do it until she called me from this number. Obviously a scam!

- Butch| 2 repliesI received a call from a Restricted number last week. The individual was difficult to understand due to his heavy accent and poor phone connection. He stated that he was from Computer Experts and that I was due for a refund from a 4 month old internet purchase. He explained that he needed access to my computer to confirm...something. I repeatedly asked him for clarification and specifics regarding this necessary access and I also made the point that refunds should be handled directly thru the credit card issuer. He ignored my concerns and continued stressing his need to access my computer. I finally told his that I busy and to call me back next week.
Five days have passed since that first call. In the past two days I received multiple calls (unanswered) from a Restricted number followed immediately each time by a call from 661-748-0240. Very interesting that this phone number has a dark history going back many years.
I thank everyone for posting warnings about this number and I warn everyone that the scam is ongoing as of 3-16-16.- Caller: Computer Experts

- CelticDragon replies to ButchAs the number, upon running a search, comes up as a VoIP number, the person is actually most likely over in India or another third-world country. I wish we had more posters like you that actually took the time to give us as much info as possible in a very readable post.
- David SWatch the number that comes up on your phone and DO NOT DO BUSINESS with this caller. This is a scam from the very get go. This is a skype number and the caller gives you an American name but with a heavy Indian type of accident. They actually use a company's name who is doing business in this country but they are giving out false info. If you need their type of services you make a call to a trusted company to take care of your needs.
