Call from Texas, did not answer

Received call on cell phone & unfortunately automatically picked up coz I was awakened.  Got a recording of a female saying "YOU WON A TRIP TO THE BAHAMAS! ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS..." & I automatically hung up & blocked the #.  Sounded exactly like a call received on my home phone, with the same deal (but it must've been a different # coz this wasn't on my block list there.  What purpose is the "Do Not Call" list?

Thanks to all for your helpful and hilarious comments...I love the imaginary sea sickness lol!  Called on my cell phone.  I blocked this caller immediately, when it rang through I was on an important business call so I ignored it and sent it to voicemail - no message, figures right?!

Don't know why we have a National Do Not Call Registry...waste of our taxpayer money!

Called hung up before I could get to phone.  Called again. No VM.  Now my cell getting calls from "unknown"

Didn't answer...no message...now blocked.

Called showing "Arlington Texas"  That is not the Arlington Area Code.  Immediately knew it was some sort of scam or telemarketing.  Blocked.

Why would you expect criminals to respect the National Do Not Call Registry ?

They called my work number, which is a "732" number (tho' my office is in Weatherford, TX, the main office is in NJ and the phone number is assigned to my line) and there was no answer and then a hang up. Maybe because I answered the phone as I do for work, they hung up? Either way, it's a useless call. :)

Missed the call - when I called back, a robo-voice stated that the survey I was called about was finished. It then stated to press 9 to have my number removed from their list.
