Called 4x today and once yesterday. I tried calling back and "this number cannot be completed as dialed"

5 calls today alone (4/24/14) which hung up on my answer machine - which greeting warns that if someone calls and hangs up more than twice their number will be blocked. Yesterday the calls started with 3 calls and hang-ups. All the calls are in the evening and in quick succession.

i just started getting calls from this number, i have my phone set up where anyone outside of my contacts gets blocked. This number although still calls 2-3 times a day for the last 3 weeks. Some day it will all come to an end..just a matter of time.

After they called several times I answered. They said they were United Insurance advisors. I immediately told them I was not interested and o take me off their call list. They said okay, sorry.

it's a spoofed number.  They are phishing for personal information.  Does anyone really believe that criminals abide by the do not call registry?

I received 2 calls while at work today. Did not answer it, but thanks to those who have posted here about scams!  I wasn't about to answer from someone from an unknown area code either.

Yeah, this number called, but since the number was unknown to me, didn't answer.  

they are back! i got two calls in two days. no voicemail message. i've added to my block list.

It is idiots like you that keep these so called companies in business and bothering us with their scam/junk calls! They need to be fined and fined some more until they learn to stop. Getting fined is punishment for them calling numbers on the "do not call" list! It's only right if they aren't punished they will just continue calling thinking that it is perfectly OK.

Just got called from this number too.

People, try and remember a few little details. If you do not recognize the number (or if its showing a city, state; or other unknown type name), Do not pick up the phone. The reasons are this:

1) If you pick up the phone, they know its a live number (and the cost of your phone number now has value when selling it)
2) If you answer the phone (with a voice) like "Hello?", now they have a gender of someone who lives there (good for different types of scams). Now that phone number has more value when selling.
3) If you get to a live person, that means you can be persuaded (scare tactics, financial scare, any other verbal form of scareware).
4) If you actually try talking to a live person, they can identify what may influence your staying on the line longer (better for them, worse for you).

Picking up the phone for them gets you more calls because you will be sold left and right. Blocking only helps for a few days (as we see in the 6 pages here, there appears to be at least 3 or more different scams that used this number, and there will likely be more).

Now, the bad news, letting it ring tells them that it is a valid number (BUT, it does not tell them if it is residential or commercial or a phone in a shack in the middle of nowhere).

The only functional method to make them go away is when they get the standard phone carrier signal that the number is not valid (which we can't do at the moment).

Scam calls do not care if you are on the do-not-call or not. They want your money in one form or another, so trying to talk to them is very pointless. Until we can trace their IP address from the call, there is no sure method to block them (since they can put a new number appearing in CallerID every other minute). Blocking their domain prevents the plethora of VoIP calls with spoofed CallerID numbers, but at the moment it is difficult to find their domain to do that.

The best you can do at the moment, is just not pick up the phone for the scammer.

Unknown caller from this number; never leaves a VM; hangs up when I answer.

I have received a call the past two days from this number. Missed it the first day but answered it today. It is an automated system peddling insurance. It is easily found to be automated because the answers you give to the young woman's voice are followed by responses that are not related to what I said.

I am on a do not call list and have gotten a call from this number twice. They ask for personal info and I believe it is a scam. I do not want further contact from telemarketers at all. This would be the reason I am on the do not call list.

Got a call from this number, didn't answer, after they hung up I called them back.  I got a message from Verizon, saying that I "could not complete this call as dialed. Please check the number and try again"  I am on the DNC list, and would like to see these scammers get fined.

3rd call today.. I don't answer but want it to stop!!!!  

4 phone calls from this number the past 2 days! Looks like this number was dormant for a while and now it is being used again. blocked the number so at least i do not hear the phone ring when they call, call is automatically rejected.

Someone sell insurance, keep calling for many times a day...suck
