This guy continues to call (or his machine does) and ask us to dial in to a conference. How do they get away with this when I'm on the DNC list? The gov shut down the vehicle warranty people. I hope this guy is next.

They are calling you, because someone gave them your number.  A friend of a friend asked for my number and email address. I gave it.  Had I known that it was for this. I would have declined her request.

At any rate, she's sending me emails about a conference call today and tomorrow.  I didn't know about $1/minute charge, so thanks for this.

Here's the email she sent out:

Hello Friends  A live phone call presentation for Data Networkk Affiliates will be this afternoon (Friday) and tomorrow (Saturday) at 3:00pm.

You will hear from the founders of this new program and how it serves as a service for our communities.  You will also hear how you can be paid for this servibce.  The phone number is 1-712-432-0075.  The pin number is 605196 and press the # sign.  Don't worry.  You won't be asked to pay anything to get started and working the program!"

I responded to a craigslist post about a data entry postion and the woman i spoke to told me to call this number for a teleconference and listen in. Thankfully I did not, because it sounded sketchy to say the least.

Do not call this number! If you do some research you can see its a subsidy that has the ability to charge an outragous long distance charge per minute. How they are getting away with this I do not know, but its unsettling.

This phone number is a free conference call center, where organizations can set up conference calls. If someone is using this number unscrupulously, then it has nothing to do with the conference call center itself.

Checking my latest phone bill, I *don't* see any $1/minute charge -- just my normal 3c/minute long distance rate.

---THIS IS HOW TO STOP THE CALLS....FOR SURE-----------
I responded to their advertisement, by giving them my name and phone number, thinking it was an "ok". Boy was I wrong. This man doesn't even quote scripture correctly. Bottom line is that the calls don't stop coming in. Even after 3 times of me calling their customer service number = 888-831-0434 and asking them to stop calling my number (calls are coming from AMERICANCOLOR 212-967-8033) . Just 10 minutes ago, I called again.....waited on hold for 11 minutes, then told Juanitha (yes, that's spelled correctly) that I was recording the call and that I wanted my number removed and that IF I get another call, I will immediately set up my autodialer to call their toll free number, let their automatic answering machine come on, let my dialer stay connected for 30 seconds, then hang up and immediately dial again and do the same thing. I would do this from 9pm till 7am (10 hours = shy of 1200 calls = cost of about 45cents per connection). When they get their extra large bill from the toll free service...then they will do something. Oh, and by the way, when I called today, Juanitha said "ok" , even after I told her I was recording the entire phone call. I'll be saving that call as I'm sure they will try to come after me. Too bad.....for them. and for those of you concerned about the legality of this....it is...100%, considering the scenario above.

While on Jobnab.com I received a message at the end of an application that said I might qualify for a job as a job scout. After setting up the interview appointment I received an email . Email instructed me to call 712-432-0075 at the appointed time which was 3pm Est.  When I called the number and entered code given I was placed on hold where I waited nine minutes I became suspicious as I had been warned about scams. I terminated the call looked number up on google I then called my cell phone company.

Found a job on career-network and made an appointment to have a phone interview TODAY. Just by curiousity, I thought that I should look up this number to see what area (code) the number was from. Good thing I didn't.  Are there numerous scams like this on career posting sites? If so, how can you differentiate from an actual job or an actual scam

I was given this number via JobNab to see if I wanted to become a Job Scout. They gave me a number to telephone (412 432 0075) and an access number. This is all standard practice when accessing a conference call. I attempted this call on Friday May21 @10am.

The call would not complete. it took until Wednesday May 26 to get a response from JobNab and only because I was very persistent.

I called VONAGE customer support and we both independently accessed the number OK and were asked to input the conference access code.

The JobNAB representative said that I may have issues with VONAGE and other VOIP carriers such as  MagicJack. The VONAGE representative said that I cannot be reverse-billed through VONAGE as they take care of all of he charges and will not allow reverse-billing.

Simply put this is a scam.  The same number is used for Men Praying=Praying Men (meant to get you to call for a for a prayer, as well as a Nation of Islam line (which has nothing to with the Nation of Islam) as well as other job scams, Sprirtualism scams and all sorts of self help scams from losing weight to improving your mental health.  Just google the phone number and see how many scams are linked to this number.  If you initiate the call and give them the validation number, you have agreed to the charges.  Don't call, you'll only be ripped off.

I was on Jobnab, too, when I was offered that jobscout job, but I didn't like the fact that it was supposed to be in San Diego and the # they wanted me to call was in Sioux Falls, ?? so I opted out of the interview. Glad I found this site and heard similar stories to justify refusing employment. Thanx!
