Received a phone call form this number (716) 748-7395. The message said the man's name was either Sean (or spelled Shawn) Carol or Sean Carolyn.
I traced the phone number to be a Voip out of Buffalo New York.
The message was for my father-in-law's newest wife regarding a "time sensitive" matter.
I'm glad I read Barry's review above before even thinking about returning the call.

My sister got a call on her cell phone stating I owed T J Maxx. Told her everything. When I called them and asked for Laura Star she was very rude, told me she could do anything she wanted, so I said good, put me on hold and go get your supervisor. This  person was also hard to deal with saying they had 10 numbers on me even though my home phone has been the same for thirteen years.Have called my work several times Also have called my ex husband of 30 years. Thank God we are friendly. It is so embarrassing. They try to talk fast and talk over you, making it very difficult to get any point across ed.

Got the call as well... my wife's sister (who lives in another state) stopped paying on a Best Buy credit card, so they're contacting me on my cell phone about it, as if I can help. They even called my elderly parents, who have only met my wife's sister 3 times in their lives. Collections are getting pretty desperate these days.

Collection agency.  I am not the person in debt, they called on a relative that lives four states away.  No idea how they got this number, as I have nothing to do with them.  Rude lady on phone "threatening" me with her "list of relatives to call".   Really?  Leave me alone.

They are calling family members and friends looking for me. I had to change my number to stop the harassing phone calls. They would never say what it was for when they called me. Tried to call back and got no answer. Ridiculous!

Just called for my ex sister in law. Gave her the last number I had plus her employment. She is known for not paying her bills. So I recommend pay your debts and you won't get these calls. And they can get your number just by google. It also tells who is related to the person. Didn't bother me at all. Like I said pay your bills.

I am dealing with this same person. She was a colossal [***] and was very condescending and changed her mind mid way through and said I missed my chance to accept a payment arrangement within seconds of her offering one. Horrible. Called my family, employer, etc.

You will need to send them a certified, return receipt debt validation (by law they have to go back to the original creditor to prove you owe the debt), cease and desist calling, or "not me" letter (this will be the best money that you have ever invested).  Also send it first class mail in case no one will sign for it.  Make a notation of that fact at the bottom of the letter.  You also need to report them to the proper agencies to which I have provided links to.  Then you need to go out and get a consumer lawyer to sue them on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket) and let them pay you for the harassment.  If everyone did these three things, these crooks would be bankrupt and we would all be the richer for it.  Use these web sites to find an attorney in your state that will probably take the case on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket up front):  http://www.consumeradvocates.org/

Everything else you need to know follows including at least two agencies where you should report their criminal activities.

BBB gives them an A+ with 10 complaints and 2 negative review (Eastpoint paid the BBB to remove 11 complaints so they could get a bump in their rating from A- to A+):  http://www.bbb.org/upstate-new-york/business- ... o-ny-235968042/

It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and (this is the important part) that they have the legal right to collect it.  You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

First, you should make a complaint at this Federal Agency, and while there you should also read up on how debt collection is supposed to work as well as what your rights in this matter are: https://www.consumerfinance.gov/

Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.
