caller insists that a settlement will be filed against me.  has correct name but wront ss info.  have no open balances with anything.  naturally cannot understand the name of the company he works for or his name - how convenient.

he called and wants me to say I owe money ,do not understand and told him so
that I do not know what he is talking about..still keeps calling I ignore

I got a phone call saying that I was facing a lawsuit for not paying a loan taken out through the internet.  He had some of my information correct, which makes me nervous and other information was completely incorrect. He said he was basically from a collection agency calling on behalf of a law firm! UGH I am so angry!

Yeah they are calling impersonating a Law Firm they have some yahoo call and act as if she/he has any authority, making idle threats, just dispute, ask for proof of the deb and report them.

Better yet talk to the attorney or manager and discuss your debt....go to the top to resolve things

the number is listed as a landline in Buffalo NY - HOME OF THE WORST OF THE WORST debt collectors - those that VIOLATE STATE AND FEDERAL LAWS TO COLLECT WHAT IS NOT LEGALLY OWED..

attorneys do not have to be licensed in every state to collect debt, collection agencies do have to be licensed in almost every state though,except twelve I believe.

I apparently got the same phone call. This one came from 1 877 291 3759, which coincidently when I left a message from my cell phone number was given the call back number from 716 748 8700. (Mr. Porter) was his name at x214. When I finally called that number after the third time I finally got a hold of someone and did not mention my name. He was looking for another person.  Hopefully that caller will not call back again. (targeting the elderly like that)

They called about my Ex-Wife with whom I have been divorced since 1999 and was demanding information. I told them I knew nothing but they were quite adamant that I tell them something.

Very nasty and violent language. Insisted I give then my credit card # or I will face jail time

Asked for my 8 year old son and said he owes over $10,000 to a company we have never heard of. I told him my son was 8 and he called me a liar and threatened to call children's service in my state to take him away for me putting him up to this. (I found out the company is a firm that sells adult marital aids...I am a Pastor)

Called 18 times in last 50 minutes

Attorney's have to be listed with the States BAR Association  in your state as well.  A lawyer from NY cannot work in CA unless registered with the CA BAR association

Unlicensed debt collectors cannot hire a local lawyer to file lawsuits against consumers either.  IF the debt collector is NOT licensed in your State to collect - they have no legal right to file lawsuits.

Said I would face jail time and would garnish my SSI and would take my property I own and said he represents a law firm (Cignarale Law) Called me bad names and threatened to send someone around to take it out one way or another and said if I pay him plus 15% He'll call off the police or else he will print my name in the New York Times Sunday edition on July 4th.

I got the same call from this number and said they have a settlement against me. They got my name, but Wrong SSN. Total Scammer!!
Do not return the call

They just called me and said that I would go to jail for not working with them to settle a debt that I didn't even have.   When I asked for their number to call them back the girl refused and started saying that the cops were coming after me.

I got  a call also and hung up and talked to the manager and got that staightened out and the collector....its always fun to get the collector in trouble

This is a SCAM from what I have been told.
